5 fang review: Wolf’s Haven by Ambrielle Kirk
Posted by brriske
Tamara would risk her life to gain freedom. She’s finally built up the courage to escape from a world of abuse by the hands of the man who promised her the world. One night she makes a break for it, but her plans backfire. She begins to believe that she was never meant to be happy. When all hope of freedom fades, she stumbles across a wolf that brings her to safety. She learns to trust the wolf, but has yet to trust the man.
Devin, potential future leader of the Caedmon Pack, returns to the foothills of his Virginia home after five long years as a lone wolf. Rivals within the circle challenge him and threaten to strip him of his true birthright. Being bound to lead the pack was not something Devin had planned for his life, but letting his people fall prey to turmoil under the rule of his cousin Darius is out of the question. The night of Devin’s rise to Alpha leader is approaching. Despite opposition, he’s gained an impressive following. That is until he brings a human among the pack.
Tamara can’t deny the attraction she feels toward Devin. The Alpha leader-to-be simply cannot resist Tamara’s lure. When they are together, their tribulations take the backburner. Their desire for one another grows as they consummate their passion in wolf’s haven. Will Devin forfeit the most coveted position within the Caedmon Pack to bond with his chosen mate? Can Tamara trust Devin with her mind, heart, body, and soul or will the memories of her abuse dissuade her from being bound to the wolf?

HOT HOT HOT 5 Fang Review: Breathe by Lauren Jameson

When business mogul Elijah Masterson travels to the Mexican coast for his chain of luxury resorts, he purchases an emerald green glass sculpture for one of the properties. He is soon fascinated by the fiery temptress who created it. The attraction between them is instant and explosive, but Elijah resists, unsure that a woman as strong-willed as Samantha would ever yield in the way he needs her to.
Headstrong glass artist Samantha Collins hides a secret desire to submit to the right man. Samantha sees everything she wants in Elijah but, apart from one steamy night, he seems determined to keep his distance. She has always held back, but refusing to let go now that she’s found the dominant man she’s always wanted, Samantha makes Elijah an offer he can’t refuse: a month of absolute submission.
But after a month of incredible passion, will either of them be able to walk away?
Lauren Hawkeye/ Lauren Jameson never imagined that she’d wind up telling stories for a living… though when she looks back, it’s easy to see that she’s the only one who is surprised. Always “the kid who read all the time”, Lauren made up stories about her favorite characters once she’d finished a book… and once spent an entire year narrating her own life internally. No, really. But where she was just plain odd before publication, now she can at least claim to have an artistic temperament.
Lauren lives in the Rocky Mountains of Alberta, Canada with her husband, toddler, pit bull and idiot cat, though they do not live in an igloo, nor do they drive a dogsled. In her nonexistent spare time Lauren can be found knitting (her husband claims that her snobby yarn collection is exorbitant), reading anything she can get her hands on, or sweating her way through spin class. She loves to hear from her readers!

4 fang review: Parallel Attraction by Deidre Knight
Posted by brriske
An unexpectedly sensual connection…
Finding a mate is the farthest thing from alien warrior Jared Bennett’s mind. After years of exile on Earth, the king is close to developing a weapon that will alter the fabric of time and hopefully bring peace to his own people. But a chance encounter with scientist Kelsey Wells ignites a scorching desire far more consuming than talks of rebellion.
To Kelsey, Jared’s heritage is exotic and alarming – nothing like the logical, scientific facts of her own world. But despite her fears, she can’t deny the heated response of her body every time the magnetic leader comes near.
A dangerous allure…
As the bond between them grows, Jared struggles with a shocking family secret that keeps him from claiming Kelsey as his own. And a visitor from the future escalates Jared’s battle for his people’s freedom to a fever pitch, forcing the lovers to face one inescapable fact: Time can save them, as much as it can destroy them.
*The Parallel Series was originally released as the Midnight Warriors series. Kindle editions now include updated scenes and bonus material!*
Review:
4 Fangs
I received this book from Paranormal Romance & Authors that Rock in exchange for an honest review. This was a very convoluted tale of aliens, wars, time travel, and love.
There are a good many reasons I enjoyed this book. The first being the characters. They were beautifully written. My heart broke for some of them and soared for the others. The author did a gorgeous job of introducing and making me love not just the main characters but also the background characters. I want everyone to have their happily ever afters, which means I need to read the next books in this series immediately. The next aspect of this novel I loved were the sex scenes. They were so romantic and touching while still being super hot and steamy. Sigh. They were just so eloquently written. My only negative critique of this novel is sometimes I found it too wordy. With all the time traveling and skipping around and the wordiness (yeah I made that word up. 😉 )sometimes I felt lost. Other than that, a terrific read if you enjoy a little Romantic sci-fi with aliens and all.

Oracle by Aedan Byrnes
Posted by brriske
Cyrenna thought she died the day she watched Tynan and his brothers jump through the banishment portal in an act of solidarity with Rigor. Little did she know that it would be the first of many deaths she would experience in her quest to claim his heart. She would surrender not only her immortal soul, but a mortal one repeatedly. Through a deal with the great Oracle, she has multiple mortal lifetimes to change the direction of her future and have a chance with Tynan. From the GenPei War in Japan and the Silk Road west, to Cromwell, the Three Kingdoms and modern times, she lives and dies repeatedly hoping to get her heart’s desire.
Near the end, she makes a misstep, breaks one of the rules of her covenant with the Oracle, and cannot return. The burden falls to Tynan and everything she was able to share with him to that point. The only thing that is absolute is her fervent hope that he will come, but there’s one big problem. Through it all, he doesn’t so much as know her name.
Review:
This book was given to me by the author and PRATR for an honest review. Lifetime after lifetime Cyrenna fights to win the love of her lost soul mate Tynan at any cost in a journey taking not only on an epic journey but a journey through time. Cyrenna goes through lifetime to lifetime through different lives she’s lived… and lost, all for a chance at her one true love. This book shows the determination of love with a woman willing to sacrifice her self, dying over and over again in an attempt to win her loves heart. Byrnes creates an amazing world placing you into different historical eras that pull you in and won’t let you go till the very end leaving you hungering for more. This book shows the determination of her love dying over and over again in an attempt to win her loves heart. 4 out of 5 stars. Review by Rebecca Baker (Independent reviewer)

Excerpt #1:
“Well, I’m here now. What do you want to do?” I raise one eyebrow, hoping he’s thinking the same thing I am.
“I thought we’d have a glass of wine on the back patio and talk. Then we can have dinner and see where the night goes from there. How does that sound?”
I try to hide my disappointment at his plan. I was hoping to have him as an appetizer and go from there. I can’t believe my sex drive is revved up after only being with this man twice.
“Sure, sounds like a plan to me. What kind of wine do you have?” I’m not a wine expert, but I know what I like.
“I’ve got a Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay or a Pinot. Is there one you prefer?”
“I’ll start with the Chardonnay, please.” It’s my favorite, but I’m not going to tell him just yet.
Drew pours the wine, takes my hand, and leads me out to the patio where he first proposed this idea of marriage. I hadn’t taken the opportunity to admire the view the last time I was here. If this is going to be my home, I think I should take a look around. There’s the patio, which is covered over about six feet by a deck above. The large grill and a patio table are on one side. Beyond the patio is a beautiful in-ground pool with an infinity edge. I love swimming pools. On both sides of the pool are large grassy areas that seem to go on forever.
I could get used to this. I shake my head trying to clear my head. I shouldn’t be thinking like this when our relationship is fake.
Drew pulls a chair out from the table for me before sitting down. Such a gentleman. I smile at that thought, and when I look up he’s staring.
“What?” I can’t help but grin.
“Nothing, just that you have a beautiful smile.”
Okay, my panties are wet again. How is it he keeps doing this to me?
“Um, thanks?”
Drew smiles again and I can feel my cheeks heat up. I’ve got to stop blushing in front of him.
“So, Lily, is there anything in particular you’d like to do on your days off?”
Oh, there are plenty of things I want to do, but I’m not sure I can say them out loud right now.
“Well, I haven’t really thought about it. I have until Monday, so I’m sure we’ll think of something.”
“Monday? I thought you had a wedding this weekend.”
“Nope. The bride postponed due to a family emergency. I don’t have anything going on until Monday, so . . .”
“Wow, that’s great. I’m sure we’ll find a way to fill the time.”
That statement holds promise. I smile at Drew and try to convey my dirty thoughts with my eyes.
Excerpt #2 (A little more PG13)
When I reach my room, I stop short at one of the most beautiful sights I’ve ever seen.
Lily is curled up on my bed, her hair splayed out on the pillow, and she’s sleeping. She looks so peaceful and content; my dick twitches at the thought of burying myself inside her. My heart rate speeds up and I realize I really like this view. I want to have it view every day. Fuck. There go my plans to keep things simple. I’m falling in love with Lily. I didn’t see that coming, but I kind of like the idea. As I change my clothes, I wonder how this woman got under my skin so quickly.
I know I should let her sleep, but I have to touch her to figure out if what I’m feeling is real, if I want to put my heart on the line again and risk it being crushed. I climb carefully on the bed and she rolls toward me, but doesn’t open her eyes. I brush a few strands of hair away from her face and she smiles. That smile pushes me over the edge. I know I want this woman in my life, and I’m going to do what I can to keep her. It’s a foreign feeling, one I’ve fought for years, but it feels right. I pull her into my arms. She makes a small moaning sound and curls into me. She’s soft where I’m hard and we fit together like we were made for each other. I relax and get lost in the rhythm of her breathing. Soon, I’m dozing, too.

“Some fires never burn out…
After ten years as America’s sweetest celebrity chef, Naomi Whitehouse is enjoying life out of the spotlight, back in her hometown of Summerville, Georgia. She’s opening a pastry shop with her sister, housesitting for her snowbird parents, and reconnecting with her roots. Life is good until she runs into her high school sweetheart, Jake Hansen, a sexy firefighter who gives her a reception chilly enough to freeze a forest fire. If Naomi wants her homecoming to remain all cupcakes and sugar cookies, she’ll have to win Jake over. But how can she earn his forgiveness when he won’t even speak to her?
When the girl who broke his heart buys a month of dates at the firefighter’s Hunk-for-a-Month fundraiser auction, only honor keeps widower Jake Hansen from backing out of the commitment. He won’t let the firehouse down, even if it means enduring a torturous month with Naomi Whitehouse. And Jake knows being close to Naomi again will be torture. Even after all these years, she still gets to him…not that he intends to let her know it. He’ll be civil, honor his obligation, and with any luck Naomi will tire of playing small-town pastry chef and Jake will never see her again.
But as the month passes, Jake and Naomi discover some fires never burn out. Will the heat between them be enough to melt away the pain of past mistakes, or is their second chance doomed from the start?”
“Jessie Evans gave up a career as an international woman of mystery to write the sassy, Southern romances she always wanted to read.
She’s married to the man of her dreams, and together they’re raising a few adorable, mischievous children in a tree house in the boonies. She grew up in rural Arkansas, spending summers running wild, being chewed by chiggers, and now appreciates her home in a chigger-free part of the world even more.
When she’s not writing, Jessie enjoys playing her dulcimer (badly), sewing the worlds ugliest quilts to give to her friends, going for bike rides with her house full of boys, and wandering the woods, glass of wine and camera both in hand, on the lookout for Bigfoot.
A southern girl, born and bred, Jessie loves writing Southern romances with just the right amount of sizzle, and hopes you’ll enjoy her stories set in the fictional town of Summerville, Georgia.”
