Home Run – The Keller Family Series, Book 7
by Bernadette Marie
In one moment Christian Keller’s life was changed. Now as he picks up the pieces he wonders if he can possibly recoup what he lost.
Victoria Lincoln had a promising future with Christian until an accident took the life of her sister and left her as guardian to her two small children.
Their lives have gone in different directions, but Christian and Victoria’s paths will cross again. It will take a lot of change to pick up where they left off—if either of them can.
Quickly, exhaustion took over her body. At some point she knew she’d heard the kids in the hallway with Scott on their way to bed, but she slept through the night.
She’d nearly forgotten he was there until the next morning when she walked downstairs to make her coffee. The deep breathing from the living room startled her a moment. Then she saw him splayed out under a Mickey Mouse blanket. Her breath hitched in her throat at the sight of his bare chest.
Steadying herself with a cleansing breath she walked toward the kitchen.
She was more than grateful that she’d brushed her teeth before coming down, because when Scott walked into the kitchen and pressed himself up behind her she’d let out a sigh. His hard body was close against her and his lips were on her neck.
“Are you feeling better?”
“Uh-huh,” was all she could manage.
“I can call in sick and take care of you.” His voice had dipped sensually and she swallowed hard.
“I have to work.”
He let out a groan and then gave her a peck on the cheek. “Maybe tonight and the rest of the weekend.”
He moved away from her and headed down the hall to the bathroom and Victoria let out the breath she’d been holding. Right. It was Friday. He could come back and spend all weekend.
Scott would be spending the night.
Dear Lord, was she ready for this. She looked down at her shaky hand. Yes. She was ready.
I received this book from Paranormal Romance and Authors that rock and Bernadette Marie for an honest review.
Christen was living the dream. He was a major league baseball player, had the women of his dreams and the big house. Then one day he injured his shoulder and was told he might not be able to play again. He began his pity party and really didn’t know what to do with his life after the injury. He was offered a couching job, but was that really what he wanted? Well he lost the chance one night after one of his sister and her husband’s concerts. He was in the back seat of his best friend and wife’s car talking to his fiancée about how amazing the concert and his sister’s hair. They didn’t see it coming. The drunk drive came out of nowhere and smashed the car. The accident killed his best friend and his wife and injured him and his fiancée Victoria pretty bad. The worst of it was his niece and nephew lost their parents and his fiancé gained custody of them since they were the legal guardians. But he wasn’t ready to be a dad. He just lost his best friend and also had to deal with his own injuries. He pushed Victoria away and let her deal with two toddlers and her injuries by herself. For a year he did the pity party and secluded himself from life and everyone. Until one day he saw Victoria and realized he needed her and wanted to be that man. Unfortunately it might have been too late. His one chance to show her he meant it was at his brother wedding. Did he win her back? Did she move on? Read it to find out.
I loved this story! It really made me think about how life can change in the blink of an eye and what changes can be made for better or worse. Tori made me smile because she was the responsible one who loved her god children and knew no matter how much pain she was in they were her priority because she was all they had. I love the fight scene between Scott and Chris. It all came together right then.
Definitely 18+ for sex scene, True romance, and great for sports fans.
AUTHOR Bio and Links:
Bernadette Marie has been an avid writer since the early age of 13, when she’d fill notebook after notebook with stories that she’d share with her friends. Her journey into novel writing started the summer before eighth grade when her father gave her an old typewriter. At all times of the day and night you would find her on the back porch penning her first work, which she would continue to write for the next 22 years.
In 2007 – after marriage, filling her chronic entrepreneurial needs, and having five children – Bernadette began to write seriously with the goal of being published. That year she wrote 12 books. In 2009 she was contracted for her first trilogy and the published author was born. In 2011 she (being the entrepreneur that she is) opened her own publishing house, 5 Prince Publishing, and has released contemporary titles and has begun the process of taking on other authors in other genres.
Bernadette spends most of her free time driving her kids to their many events. She is also an accomplished martial artist, working her way to her second degree black belt in Tang Soo Do. An avid reader she loves to meet readers who enjoy reading contemporary romances and she always promises Happily Ever After.

Is writing your only profession?
I am also the CEO of 5 Prince Publishing, a small press publisher.
Who was your favorite character to write? Why?
Madeline from A SECOND CHANCE, book two in the Keller Family Series, remains my favorite. She’s a mother dealing with a second failed marriage, three growing kids, and breast cancer. She was the most real to me since I am a mother, though thankfully I don’t share any other similarities other than heritage with Madeline. She’s compassionate and strong. I think that’s why I enjoyed her.
Who are some of your favorite authors?
Because I can’t get enough of her, I’d have to say Nora Roberts is my favorite of all times. My earliest favorite was Sidney Sheldon, I enjoy Karen White, Gretchen Galway, and newcomer Lisa J. Hobman.
What is your favorite writing snack you eat or drink while writing?
I always drink water, but you’ll always find a midday bowl of Edamame on my desk.
What makes you mad enough to want to throat punch a person?
That is an interview question I have never heard before. Let’s see…when an adult or parent is disrespectful to their child. I don’t mean when they get frazzled because they are tired and the kid needs something. I’m talking those parents who can’t be nice to their kid, don’t ever treat them right, and God help you if you harm a child in any way. My 2nd degree black belt discipline might not be so disciplined at that moment.
What is your favorite TV show?
It will always remain Friends.
What would be your favorite vacation spot (with no money limitation)?
Cinderella’s Castle at Disneyland! I’m a Disneyland-aholic! I spend my birthday there almost every year and if I could literally stay ON property, that would be the best for me.
