While at Verbum Dei High School Dwight was voted number one player in the Country in 1972 by different sports magazines. He then went on to further his education and play basketball at Cal State Los Angeles from 1972 to 1976—a period that would set a precedent with new laws changing how colleges accept athletes. He was voted by ESPN and Sports Illustrated as one of the top 100 basketball players in the State of California. As a child, Slaughter relied on basketball to build his self-esteem and relieve the stress of mental and physical abuse. His gripping memoir follows his public career and takes the reader inside his personal life as well—into a childhood of abuse, betrayal…even murder.
Dwight Slaughter has long been a fixture of American Basketball history. Voted 1972’s ‘number one player in the country’ by nationally-acclaimed sports magazines and also hailed by ESPN as one of California’s ‘Top 100’ players – many people were led to believe that Slaughter’s entire life was at the top of its game.
However, as Slaughter’s new memoir exposes for the firs time, basketball was an escape from a personal life filled with abuse, neglect and exposure to a lifestyle no young person should ever witness. ‘The Unknown Story of the Last Name Slaughter’ holds no bars the author recounts his life with gripping honesty.

I’m going to start off by saying wow!
I just loved this book once I started I could not put it down. They story was amazing. I loved the mystery of what was going on and who everyone was.
We start off with Ariya and her bast friend coming back to collage for their senior year. Ariya and her friend Caroline head to party and that’s when Ariya finds James. Its like she can’t stop watching him and she can’t stop the overwhelming feeling in her gut that something is just off. That’s when the story starts to really develop. I the secrets you learn will just blow tour mind. I don’t want to give anything away. But know that this book was amazing. I hate cliffhangers but in his case it was perfect.
I can’t wait to read more in this series.
I would recommend this book for 16 and older. Some mild violence.
I’m going to give this 5 out of 5 fangs!!

About Double Alchemy: Climax (Double Alchemy Book #2)
- Title: Double Alchemy: Climax (Double Alchemy Book #2)
- Author: Susan Mac Nicol
- Publisher: Boroughs Publishing Group
- Release Date: 22nd May, 2014
- Genre: M/M Paranormal Romance
Powerful modern warlock Quinn Fairmont found ecstasy with the silver-eyed and not-quite-human Cade Mairston, but to know true happiness the pair must best both the shadow of a long-ago lover and an ancient enemy who seeks to destroy love, light and all they hold dear.
A BLINDING LIGHT
It begins with a Book of Shadows discovered by a London coven. The grimoire is as dangerous as it is rare, which is why it evokes modern-day warlock Quinn Fairmont’s desire. He collects objects of great power and beauty—like his lover, Cade Mairston.
Against all odds he and Cade found each other, but their perils have just begun. First is the ex-lover who once held Quinn in thrall. And, someone has been killing warlocks. Could it be one of his own kind? There are those too who would challenge Quinn’s power in their quest to overthrow him as Grand Master. Or is the danger something darker, something invoked inadvertently, rising from the shadows, building from the very inside of a man until it brings an end with a quick flash of light? Of the truth, the surface has only been scratched. Now Quinn and Cade must go deeper and find both answers and an end. They must learn what lurks in the hearts of men…and whether it seeks to love or destroy.
4 fangs out of 5 fangs
We rejoin Quinn and Cade after the attack on Quinn. Quinn is a Warlock, Grand Master of the Consortium; Quinn also has a Withinner, Taliesin, an old and powerful Warlock in his own right. Cade is human, mostly, but has Sprite tendencies.
The first half of the book takes up the plot to discover where the Witchfinder General is, and killing him. they do this with the help of a book that has traces of his blood. And a witch that once held Quinn as a sex slaves for 3 days! this bit of the plot was slow and took time to develop, but once they had killed him, you are then left with half a book still to go!
We then (its almost 2 books in one!) get to the second plot line, and that is Quinn’s fight for his Grand Master title, and for Cade. Cade comes a cropper, and is immersed into…well, I’m not saying, just that all is well in the end!
We dont get so much of Taliesin in this book, and i missed him and his wittiness! i liked Valensia, and how both Quinn and Taliesin react to her, but also Daniel. (and i feel there could be another tale from those two alone!) Cade and Quinn’s relationship grows stronger, and the sex becomes hotter after Cade’s little hiccup, but again, its not all described in great detail, actually much is left to the imagination, but what IS described is well written and not too explicit. The two plot lines would have worked better if they intertwined from the beginning, rather than almost one done then starting the next. i DID like Misty, who sets the whole thing in motion, and i would like there to have been more of her, especially with what she and Quinn, and Cade now have planned. the ending did seem to petter out a little, and that is what lets it down.

Places I’d love to visit
For some reason, I have a real yen to visit New England, in Maine. Stephen King is one of my favourite authors and he lives in Bangor. I fancy bumping into him in a coffee shop or something. I’ve also wanted to visit there and see the Autumn Fall tree lined avenues and the beautiful coast line with its New England architecture and wooden houses. So a pretty blue and white house on the beach here would be my ideal place to live and write. Or one that looks just like Stephen’s…it’s quite spooky looking but I love it.
http://www.travelblog.org/Photos/2418865
Then again, I’ve also wanted to visit Venice. Ah Venice. The beautiful floating city and home of Murano glass. I can see myself sitting in this high hotel room, or a private apartment, gazing out upon the river and the inspiration of the magnificent old buildings. The muscles of the young Venetian gondoliers would make a welcome distraction, and perhaps I might indulge myself in a frothy latte and a crema croissant at the Café Del Doge…
I’ve been to quite a few places in my travels. I travelled America many years ago, to New York, New Orleans, Kentucky, and Florida. I went down the Mississippi on a steamboat, and went through the Florida Glades in a small dinghy. It was great fun. I’ve seen camels in the desert in Tunisia, wandered around Dracula’s castle in Transylvania, travelled through Bosnia to get to Dubrovnik from Croatia, spent two weeks in Southern Ireland, and drunk Guinness and eaten Irish beef (delicious by the way.) I’ve spent time in Prague, checking out the flea markets, had coffee in Gibraltar, a massage in Andalusia in Spain (at a spa hotel ,you dirty minded individuals) and been on safari in South Africa , where I lived for thirty years. So I have travelled and I’d really like to add these other places to my repertoire.
What places do you want to visit -is there anywhere special you’d like to go ?

Excerpt:
My head tilted fractionally, for I wanted more, but refused to look away from his calming stare. He held me to him with his eyes. They were dark in color, yet shown brightly in the dim, bluish light surrounding us.
Confirmation. That’s what his gaze held. I showed him everything I ever felt for him, and he confirmed that I wasn’t alone in my emotions.
He was my everything, though I knew only moments ago I couldn’t even remember his name. It felt as if years had gone by since we last met, and yet it had only been one week. I had missed him so much I ached.
Andre’s blazing touch continued down my arm, easing some of the tightness in my chest, and I decided to focus on the moment, with him, and worry about the future later.
Slowly, he tugged my arm off his back. Goose bumps rose over my fair skin, and I shivered, wanting to rush him, but also longing for the night to last forever.
When his fingers finally met my wrist, he grasped my hand, bringing it to his lips for a supple kiss on my palm before rubbing his nose lightly across my inner wrist. His eyes were asking permission, and my heart skipped a beat with anticipation.
“Yes,” I whispered.
His eyes never strayed from mine as his tongue slid across my pulse, causing my stomach to clench just before he pierced the vein with his sharp teeth. *

Delilah Palmer has always maintained control of her life and outward personality, blocking the truth that’s just below the surface. Using a façade meant to be normal and hide the scars of her childhood, she’s made a good life for herself. Becoming a successful lawyer, she is finally free from the tortured past that haunts her daily. Until he comes along and breaks open the cracks.Nathan Thorne has a haunted past of his own. On the surface, he is personable, extroverted, and loved by everyone; everything Delilah isn’t. However, hidden beneath his charming smile is a dark and tormented man that only Delilah has the power to unveil.Forced into a small office together, they begin to see through each other’s masks, and the magnetic attraction ignites an explosive relationship. Their firm, Holloway and Holloway Law, has a strict non-fraternization policy, forcing them to conceal their breach. But despite their efforts, separation becomes impossible, deceptions escalate, and Nathan begins to teeter on the edge of being overtaken by his past demons. What dark secrets does Nathan harbor that stop him from giving in, and what is it that keeps him from healing and moving forward? And more importantly, where does Delilah fit into his turmoil? Will they be able to accept love and deal with all the trials that develop as their secrets are exposed, or will they fall through the cracks of their pasts and be consumed by all that haunts them?An exciting new romance, Breach will hook readers from the very beginning. With smoldering romance and captivating erotica, this enthralling story is perfect for all. Using shrouded secrets of the past and a combustible relationship that borders on taboo, this thrilling novel ramps up the tension and romance at every turn.
when a book starts talking about, in the first few paragraphs, that its going to bruise, and she loved it, you know its not going to be a fluffy romance, but by gosh, this book was a real proper page turner!!
Delilah has a past, that causes her to have a very low self opinion, (some comes out during the book, I’m not saying!) Nathan wears a mask, for he is hiding himself. they are both very broken, and together, they try to heal.
HOWEVER, that’s not so easy, when Nathan is trying to push Lila away, as Lila wants to get close. Some of each of their pain is released during the book, and the things these two have gone through is heart breaking, I cried at some of the nightmare scenes, for both of them. When Lila’s ex turns up working with them, things are pushed to a head. and when a birthday looms, Nathan loses it.
Pain is the biggest emotion I get from this book, it really is. I feel for these characters. there is sex, ALOT of sex, and its all hard and fast and up the wall type of sex BUT its right and proper that these two have that kind of sex, I’m not calling it a relationship, as it isn’t, not by a long shot.
if you like a love story, this aint for you BUT if you like them tougher, deeper, darker, grittier, damaged (physically and emotionally) with a big story to tell (and its by no means finished!) then this is for you.
written entirely from Lila’s point of view, I would like to have heard from Nathan. that’s the only reason it didn’t get 5 fangs. BUT the next instalment is the last few chapters of this book, told from Nathan’s point of view, and I’m off to read that.
4.5 fangs
Review 2
Breach is the first book in the Breach Trilogy. Delilah Plamer is a lawyer at Holloway and Holloway Law Firm. She wears a mask everyday trying to hide her the scars of the past that never fully healed. New to the firm is Nathan Thorne. He is a gorgeous man, who happens to be her new partner sharing an office space with Delilah. Nathan pushes all the right buttons getting under Delilah’s skin until they finally can’t take it anymore and both of them explode. A combustible passion bursting at the seams erupts, but how long can it last. There is a strict no fraternizing policy in place making their relationship dangerous not to mention Nathan carries tortured secrets of his own.
Sparks flew right off the pages, along with clothes leaving nothing but bare, raw, dirty passion. The sexual tension between Delilah and Nathan is ever present and hot. Both characters were real and raw. They both have flaws and a tormented past. I liked how genuine they felt. I could feel their emotions as my own. I have a thing for tortured characters and I was eager to learn more about what happened.
This book is a wild ride and really defines the phrase dirty talk. There was a lot of sex and I mean a lot. It was a little too much for me so I was glad when the author finally started weaving the story in there. The story line and the motion of the story as their relationship developed made it worth it.
The ending left at a cliff hanger, leaving you holding your breath to find out what happens. I dislike cliff hangers but the peek into the next book took off the edge so it wasn’t leaving you completely guessing and yet still made you want to pick up the next book so you can find out what happens.
I recommend this book for anyone looking for a steamy rough romance and is not afraid of the dark and dirty then this is the book for you. This book is definitely for a mature audience.
I would give this book 4 fangs because of the ending. It left me wanting to know what happens next.

The journey is a spiraling decent where the beast inside is released and havoc reigns in the arena of self-destruction.But what is he to do? It was for the best, after all.The last three chapters of Breach from Nathan’s point of view
I said in the review for Breach, I wished I had heard from Nathan. I take it back. I’m sat here, on my lunch at work, crying, actually, SOBBING is more the word.
I also said pain was the predominant emotion in that book, but this? This is utter and total agony. I know Nathan loves Lila, he does, deep down, but he just can’t admit it. When she suffers both emotionally and physically because of him, he spirals out of control, but still he can’t say the words to him self. We learn a little about his pain, his suffering and WHY he keeps pushing Lila away.
You really MUST read Breach before this short, 70 odd pages, snippet of Nathan. You need to know what Lila is going through. Make sure you have tissues ready. and try not to be at work.
4.5 fangs, because I wish we had heard more from Nathan, from the very beginning, a longer book, or a merger of this one with Breach.
everyone is telling her listen to him, let him explain, he loves her, he really does. but if Nathan’s deep dark secrets are revealed, and they are to move on, so must Lila’s. and when that deep dark secret finds her, after ten years, she fears for her life.
very different to Breach, a lot of reviewers complained Nathan is like a different person entirely, but come on! it says so in the book, a couple of times, he is a changed man. granted, its over half way through before Lila and Nathan get back to the banging-up-against-the-wall-and-that’s-gonna-bruise type sex that was in Breach, BUT Lila had a massive car accident, Nathan had a breakdown. you cant expect anyone, let alone this pair, to jump right back into it!!
I LOVED the therapy session with Darren. again, some other reviewers complained about that, but no, I loved them and they were definiately needed as part of the story. I wasn’t so happy with the Boob Squad and what they said to Lila after her attack, office bitches cant be THAT bad, surely???
all of their past comes out, Nathan’s dealing with Marconi, and what happened to his wife (didn’t see WHO she was coming, I tell ya!!) Lila’s history of abuse at her father’s hand. all painful stuff, but dealt with well, and again, PAIN features in much of the book, but about half way through, it began to change and HOPE began peaking through. 🙂
still nothing from Nathan, and that’s why it gets 4.5 fangs, because at points in this book, I NEEDED to hear what he was thinking, feeling, I really did. there is a third book, and I hope they get their happy ending, but you just know there will be problems along the way. I just hope it ISNT all hearts and flowers, cos these two are sooooooo not that 😛
Infraction is book two in the Breach series. It should be read after the first book, Breach, to have an understanding of what’s going on.
Delilah wakes up in a hospital after a car crash. It’s not just her body that is in need of healing but her heart as well. Nathan wants to be part of her life and begs for forgiveness but both of their pasts stand in the way of a healthy relationship. They have to learn to trust each other and most importantly learn to communicate with one another, that is if Delilah can open her heart once again and accept him back.
I liked this book better than the first. It was filled with real, heart-felt emotion. I was right there with the characters experiencing the ups and downs. The best part was how much Delilah’s and Nathan’s relationship grew.
There wasn’t much I didn’t like about the book. Sometimes it was a little slow but not enough for me to get bored. I liked the closer look we got at Nathan and his family. The new secondary characters like Erin were a great addition.
This book is a definite read for those who read Breach. You won’t want to miss what happens next. I recommend this book to those readers out there who like a little rougher and emotional romance with real and flawed characters.
I give this book 4 fangs and will be anticipating the next addition.

Gemini, a clan of paranormal beings, picked from these possessed humans, emerges. A powerful, rising force proceeds to carry out Mother Nature’s plan to systematically destroy towns, cities, states… and eventually, the world.
Amidst the chaos, a forbidden relationship between a human girl, Violette, and Onyx, a lead Gemini, begins. They will both find themselves in the middle of a revolutionary war that will either save, or destroy our world.

This is the story of Mother Earth fighting back. People who have been destroying her become Gemini when they die. They become warriors to kill all the humans on earth. One such warrior Onyx does the unthinkable, he falls for a human. Violette is a 16 year old orphan at a Catholic orphanage where the priests and bishop try to fight the Gemini calling them demons. Slade is a young man who is in training to fight and he is in love with Violette too. What follows is not only a fight for Violette but for the whole earth. Will Slade win or will Onyx get Violette and destroy all Slade loves? This is a decent story bit kind of drawn out and I caught myself skipping parts as it was dull. I give this 3 fangs.

Love Will Make You Drink and Gamble, Stay Out Late at Night brings a number of Shelly Lowenkopf’s previously published short stories together in a single volume. All the stories revolve around life in Santa Barbara, the oceanside city north of Los Angeles, where people go after they’ve burned out in San Francisco and L.A. Yet there’s no safe haven anywhere. Interwoven into Santa Barbara’s picturesque setting, the people in these twelve stories reveal what their hearts and souls encounter in relationships. Their misreadings, mistakes, and misadventures bare what happens to people who love another.
“Shelly Lowenkopf’s short stories breathe gusts of fresh air into the often stuffy literary atmosphere,” says poet Charles Harper Webb (Liver). “Witty, urbane, sharply observed, insightful, mordant yet poignant and absolutely entertaining, these stories touch the funny bone as well as the heart. Readers have had to wait too long for this collection. Grab it now.”
“Shelly Lowenkopf is a gifted, humane story-teller,” adds author Aram Saroyan (Rancho Mirage). “Love Will Make You Drink and Gamble, Stay Out Late at Night is a delight.”
Other Praise for the Book:
“Shelly Lowenkopf’s collection of short stories, Love Will Make You Drink and Gamble, Stay Out Late at Night, is a celebration of the strength, the vulnerability and the absurdity of the human heart. In their need to connect, Lowenkopf’s characters are driven to the extreme: a man falls in love with his best friend’s dog; a waitress tries to understand a hook-up with a pianist by listening to music she doesn’t understand; a professor’s thwarted but hilarious attempt to make sure he won’t die alone. Lowenkopf’s delightful stories will leave the reader nodding and smiling in recognition.”—author Melodie Johnson Howe(City of Mirrors)
“Lowenkopf unveils Santa Barbara’s passions with clever tales about men and women (and cats and dogs) that surprise and delight. Subtle humor mixes with the loneliness and desire, but we laugh with the characters, not at them, because we see ourselves in these people. In the stories of Shelly Lowenkopf, we remember that love is life—long live love.”—author Manuel Ramos (Desperado)
“Shelly Lowenkopf is a master of the art of stealth in fiction. His writing draws you in and then, ka-pow! Here comes the sucker punch that flattens you.” —author David Gillham(City of Women)
Shelly Lowenkopf draws you in from word one. This is a great little read, short and sweet. You get a bunch of quick stories that you can breeze through without being tied up for long periods of time. I give this four fangs but only because I am more of a paranormal girl!
