To be honest, I didn’t think that I’d like this book. I’m not into sports at all and I was fooled by the title and the cover. OMG how wrong was I!
Landon had it all. Professional QB, thinks he has the perfect life between football and his wife. He’s injured and was able to recover. Unfortunately he’s tackled in a no-contact scrimmage game. The doctor tells him he needs to retire or he’ll risk becoming disabled. He thinks him and Valerie will be okay with his savings. Val tells him that she’s spent half of it because she thought he’d be able to make it up. He’s upset, but meets with his accountant only to find out she’s spent everything. when he gets home to confront her, she tells him she wants a divorce and alimony. His whole world is turned upside down. He moves back to his small town home with his parents until he can straighten out his messy life.
He’s out with a friend and is blind-sided by an unknown beauty. She vanished from the bar before he can speak to her. Autumn works for Landon’s mother and he runs into at the bakery. He doesn’t remember her from high school. She was overweight and had no friends. Most kids picked on her relentlessly. Landon can’t remember much of it, but he comes to learn that he was so absorbed with football that he missed out on a lot of important cues. He only knows that now he must have her in his life. Can Autumn get beyond the past that haunts her and layers of mistrust? Will Valerie every truly leave his life?
