Waltzing on Wheels
**I received this book from the author and Paranormal Romance and Authors That Rock.**
Laurie is a consultant at a bridal shop who is not only looking for the perfect match for herself, but dreams of one day opening her own shop. While helping her client, Kelly, pick out her dress, she meets Logan, the future bride’s brother. Although he’s gorgeous, he’s also preoccupied and cranky, and spends most of his time on his phone and not what was going on at the shop. When Kelly’s fiance bails on her, on behalf of his mother, Logan attempts to get a refund on the very expensive, non-refundable wedding dress she purchased for his sister. Even after learning the bridal shop had a binding contract, he tries to manipulate Laurie into refunding the money. Insulted by his arrogance, she decides that as good looking as he is, he’s irredeemable and she wants nothing more to do with him. In hindsight, he realizes he handled the situation badly and attempts to make it up to Laurie, but just can’t quite keep himself from digging a deeper hole. However, he is nothing if not persistent and continues seeking her out. And even though she claims to want nothing to do with him, she can’t seem to get him out of her head either.
Now, there was a part of me that thought Laurie was a little too hard on Logan initially. And when a guy goes out of his way as much as this one did, she ought to have been a tad bit easier on him. I better understood where she was coming from after she details her past relationship. As for him, he seemed a little bland. I think the restaurant scene could have been a more defining moment for him when she called him out on his insulting comments. Aside from the above, I liked the characters, at least those that count, but can’t say anyone really stood out. No one really caused much strife. Yes, there were moments that could have been difficult, but everyone seemed to take things in stride.
As I said earlier, it was cute; and the story moved along great, but just when things started to progress to the next level, the book was ending and in a way that I think was premature. Ending where it did isn’t a bad thing given this is a series, it is just where the author took it that surprised me. I’m glad Laurie was just as surprised as me. If you like sweet romances, then you’ll like this and it can be read by teens as well. It isn’t a NA book, but is PG so nothing to prevent a younger crowd from enjoying it.
