Married off to an older man, Aeliana has never had the love and passion she desires. After Titus dies, Aeliana finds herself deep in debt to a man named Augustus, who wants her more than his money. Aeliana is under pressure to marry Augustus or risk losing everything to him when a mysterious free gladiator, Gernot, suddenly turns up offering to help with a deal too good for her to refuse. Gernot is full of secrets, and Aeliana can’t seem to stop herself from falling for him.
Gernot is seeking the whereabouts of Tiberius and his pack after the eruption of Vesuvius. Deceived into sailing with Amara to Egypt, he makes his way back to Rome in search of his pack. He finds himself in Capua, fighting as a gladiator in the arena to help a beautiful woman. Gernot is torn between continuing the search for his pack and the woman he loves. Gernot, the unbeatable champion of the arena, is the only thing standing between Augustus and what he desires most. Augustus’s scheming becomes increasingly dangerous, but he is not the only danger Gernot faces.

I want my own Gernot and I want him now!!! I am in awe of Kristin’s ability to weave such an intoxicating tale. I was hooked from the beginning and couldn’t put it down. Now normally I’m not into historical romance but this is so much more than that. Not only is there such a love story between Germot and Aeliana that it makes me smile, there’s also plenty of action with blood thirsty vampires and gladiators. I can’t wait to see what’s next for these amazing characters and any more Kristin can think up. 5 awesome fangs.
