QUINN CHALLENOR, alpha Lycan, broken warrior, grieving lover.
He swears to avenge the death of TRIANNA the woman he adored. Killed by her husband when he discovered their affair Quinn took the ultimate revenge, his life. And so began the feud between the two Lycan packs. Quinn mourns and waits for his woman to return, refusing to move on his memories wrapped in the past he swears never to give his heart to another. Until innocent witch LOWRI arrives and shreds his cold shield along with his sanity to pieces.
Drawn to Quinn and curious about his scarred body, Lowri discovers it’s one she wants to get to know. After 28 years its time to lose her virginity. She’s sure she can get past his pain, and lay his ghosts to rest. He’s woken a passion in her, and she craves him with a sharp intensity. After a wicked game of strip poker Lowri gets her man. But it’s the holding onto him she struggles with.
At every turn the ghost of Trianna is resurrected and Quinn remains loyally stoic. Yet tiny cracks appear in his façade that’s crumbling. His words harsh yet his body loving he can’t deny what he feels with his touch.
When Lowri and Quinn’s sister CALYPSO visit the ruins to work on a paranormal project, neither realize what will be unleashed. The castle holds a secret, one of death, every person within the walls slain by an unknown intruder. Lowri falls into a trance witnessing the slaughter. Waking up she discovers a cameo in her hand, one worn by a woman at the castle. Yet she can’t work out why she has it. When a wolf appears at the ruins changing form, she learns that ZANE ALDRICK is Lycan and also Calypso’s boyfriend. Lowri is shocked at the revealing story behind the feud and doesn’t envy Calypso explaining who she loves to her brother. The nephew of the man that killed Trianna.
A portal remains open and SHAMIA an evil sorceress comes through. It was she that released the demons in the castle seeking the key of the bearer to the astral planes. To reach the seventh level she’s prepared to do anything and knows Lowri is unaware she holds what she seeks, the cameo.
Discovering his sister’s affair Quinn swears he’ll kill Zane if she goes near him. When Lowri tries to explain he turns his rage on her, unable to let go of the past. Finally Quinn admits Lowri is right, he needs to move on. He knows his feelings for her are strong when she is attacked by a shifter, close to death Quinn makes the decision to turn her Lycan before taking her to his island home. But when she blurts out she loves him, he says he can never share that part of himself and Lowri has to accept he’s too damaged to heal and leaves the island.
Shamia learns of his lost love, and weaving a spell, fetches Trianna back. When Quinn goes to her Lowri is devastated and finds herself at the ruins where Shamia waits she reveals Trianna will be there for a short while, before returning unless another soul takes her place. Lowri wants Quinn’s happiness before all else, and steps into the portal.
Quinn soon discovers the true nature of Trianna and realizes it was his youth, his inexperience that set her on a pedestal, now mature sees her for what she is. When he learns that Lowri intends sacrificing herself he goes after her, the cameo burns in his pocket leading the way.
Shamia is furious discovering Lowri doesn’t have the key and for the first time Lowri fights with magic eventually killing the sorceress. But Satan still awaits her soul, Quinn reaches her he begs him to take his in exchange but is refused. Lowri’s freedom is offered at a price Quinn has to fight the hell hounds that have never been defeated and after a vicious battle wins. The bearer of the cameo appears to claim it, explaining it was her pure soul that kept the key safe from Shamia.
When Quinn ignores her Lowri is unsure, convinced he doesn’t want her but once safe he explains his fear that she’d be taken from him, and admits he’s loved her all along. She is his true mate, for life, at last her broken warrior is whole.
