UNTOUCHABLE LOVER – SYNOPSIS
Across the globe, shape-shifting Lemurian warriors battle against a deadly enemy in the dark of night. The prize—Earth’s most precious resource—water, and the fate of humankind. To unite the soldiers, Lemurian gods send the diverse species to the underground Keep to join forces with their brethren and contend against their adversary.
While searching for his missing healer, King Noeh didn’t expect to find an unusual, green-eyed female chained to the wall in an abandoned asylum deep in the woods, evidence of her torment in the branding iron at her feet. Captivated, he rescues the petite female and brings her to his underground home. Despite the requirement he select a queen of his species by the next new moon or lose his crown, a forbidden attraction blooms.
Haunted by the memory of her dead mate and child, Melissa can’t escape her past or her future. On the run from her controlling master, she didn’t intend to get captured by the enemy, or be rescued by a brooding, handsome king. When she succumbs to her need for a male’s blood and drinks from the honorable king, she can’t ignore the compelling desire he ignites in her soul.
Noeh considers his options, including the ramifications of losing his crown. Duty-bound to his kind, he must follow through despite his intensions never to bond to a female. He knows too well what it did to his father, who suffered interminable loss and guilt over his inability to save his queen from the illness brought on by the great scourge.
Melissa and Noeh’s attraction grows with an intensity neither anticipated. Melissa goes into heat and Noeh is the only male she desires. Noeh loses his soul to the little female and can’t deny his own passion. Now pregnant, Melissa must protect her heart and her unborn child.
Noeh’s ex-lover abducts Melissa. As Noeh searches for the only female who has captured his heart, he must choose between saving his kind and saving his love and their unborn child. During the final battle, Noeh and Melissa band together to defeat their common enemy.
The new moon arrives and Noeh must select his queen. He looks in the scripture room, but can’t find the archaic tome describing the king’s bonding. Risking the gods’ wrath, he curses them. An ancient book falls to the floor. The text states the queen must be his kind—Lemurian, but not specifically Stiyaha. Overjoyed, he asks Melissa to be his queen and she accepts.
Melissa’s pregnancy goes awry. Faced with his dark moment—his inability to save his female—Noeh pulls on the connection to his inner beast to give her his energy, his life force. They are connected at the soul level, and he accepts his new vulnerability in their shared bond for if she dies, he dies. She is his biggest weakness, but in his heart, he knows that she is his biggest strength. She’s no longer his Untouchable Lover.
I gave this book 5 fangs. It was very well written, started off a little slow with the explanation but once you got past that there was wonderful action. It reminded me a bit of the black dagger brotherhood in the sense that the Gossum make me think of Ward’s lessers and the warriors fighting them are an ever dwindling number. I loved that melissa and noeh didnt just fall together and that was that, I loved her defiant I can take care of myself attitude. This is definitely a book that I will reread and I am looking forward to seeing what happens next in the lemurian battle for earth.
