They call him the Killer Cartographer because he carves the map coordinates of each victim on the femur of the one before. Then he tattoos the information on his skin. Can Detective Kendra Dean bring him in, or will she become his next tattoo?
EXCERPTS (Exclusive Exerpt):
The closet door didn’t squeak, but he must have touched an empty hanger because it set off a chain-reaction of clink clink clink clink clinks and then he was there, blocking the doorway between the living room and kitchen.
“We’ve got some unfinished business.” His voice still held its edge of arrogance even though his face appeared to have been run through a trash masher.
Kendra smiled. “You look like shit, Doc. What happened? You tangle with a wildcat?”
Fury colored his wounded face. “Just one more thing I owe to you.” He raised his hand to show her the scalpel.
“Seriously? You brought a scalpel to a gunfight?”
The doc’s sadistic smirk faltered. “I’ve been through every inch of this dump. You don’t have any more weapons.”
Kendra raised the .38 and aimed it at his groin. “You’re wrong about that, but you’re right about the unfinished business.”
Copper Lake is the third book in the Stutter Creek series of books. This book is about a serial killer. In fact that is where the book started, with the killer uncovering one of his victims to be found which has the information to lead to another victim which will lead to another victim if the police are able to figure out the clue, which the killer doesn’t think they will be able to. Kendra Dean is a detective who has suddenly found her life unraveling. She is under investigation at work, accused of pushing a robbery suspect in front of a UPS truck. The same week her husband of over twenty years has told her that he needs some space. So she has retreated to Copper Lake to wait on the decision of the investigation and to help put her life back together. Now can she solve the series of murders before the killer strikes again?
This book is very good. It takes some getting used to all the characters as it spends a chapter with each getting the characters set in place and ready for the action. After that it was a story that really kept you on your toes, or glued to the book as it were. I would recommend this story to anyone who enjoys suspense or crime stories. The fact that this is third in a series does not affect the read and it can be read as a standalone book. I now want to go back and read the first two books, if they are as good as this one then I know I will really enjoy them.
I’m giving this book 4 fangs.
