The Frog That Lost His Croak
by Anne Toole
“A little frog that loved to croak night and day,
The book is written for children – ages 4-years-old to 7-years-old. As a former school teacher, Anne Toole spent thirty years using nursery thymes and poems in her classroom of first-graders to capture their imagination and provide valuable lessons all at the same time.
In this story, when the little frog lost his croak, he discovered that he made the other frogs mad by bragging so much about his croak, and so he had a difficult time making friends. He also learned that he missed a lot of what was happening in the pond and what the other frogs had to say. When he regains his voice, he is much happier listening more than he croaks.
This delightfully written and illustrated book is an excellent gift for children – or for parents who want to teach valuable lessons. Five Kid Hearts.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review. I was fortunate enough to have been sent the paperback copy by Anne.
This little frog had a major personality complex that put him in a position to be shunned by his friends. What I loved about this book is that you have this fun little frog that every kid can relate to but you also have a very good lesson hidden in the background. The illustrations were cute and my kids just really love the story. I have a six and an eight-year-old who love love love to read and this story was given a permanent place on their bookshelf.
