I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Marian is taken on a grand adventure with her sister Ruthie. This book introduces kids to the land of fairytale through dress up and exploration. I really enjoyed the story but did have a reservation about it. My major reservation was that this book is geared to kids 5-8ish and in the story it talks about them going off in the woods by themselves. I get that the book itself is make believe but kids this age cannot separate those realities well. The book did get me as a parent having some important conversations with my kids about real vs make believe so even if that is not what the author was expecting, this is what happened in our house. I give this book a four as a mom, my kids gave it a five.
Kara S Tyler is the real world name of author Pavarti K Tyler. As Pav, her books have spanned genres and won many awards, however, they are geared toward an adult audience. Now that she’s writing children’s books, Kara has decided to use her real name.
The Adventures of Ninja and Bunny first came about because of a fabulous conversation overheard between Kara’s two children during a very long car ride. The two young girls spent over two hours debating various aspects of Fae politics and social structure. Without realizing it, the girls were building a world so real, Ray Bradbury would be proud.
Kara lives in Baltimore with her husband, two children and two terrible dogs. She is a full-time author and mother.
