Play Me to Infinity by Carey Decevito

So, when he relocated to Jacksonville to take over as CEO of Withers International, and be closer to his sister’s family, he never imagined he’d find himself at a crossroads.
Once a player, always a player, right? Wrong! At least, that’s what Mike now has to prove to Nicole Baxter…
Combine Nikki’s games with a problematic mélange of exes, and Mike quickly realizes he’s heading down one of two roads – heartache, or the life he thought he had given up. Ultimately, the choice is his to make.
Maybe his ex wasn’t the one? Maybe he’d given up too soon? And maybe happiness lay in the form of a feisty, argumentative, tiny package in a tight skirt – with the ability to turn any argument into foreplay?
Nicole is the bestie of Mike’s sister and grew up with both of them. However, things went the wrong path along the way. Now Nikki can’t be in the same room as him without entering a fight with him and Mike can’t stand not teasing her any chance he has. Have you heard that hate is just one step away from love? This seems to be the case because the feistier Nikki is towards Mike, the more he seems to want her. Problem? Mike might now be the only one heartbroken due to a bad relationship. The question is, can two broken hearts heal each other and beat once more?
I have to say I love Mike’s personality. It is quite uncommon to see characters that actually show different sides of him. Sometimes alpha males would be portrayed as just that and would just show a kind side to the girl they love, barely. Nevertheless, I loved how the author showed introduced Mike to the viewers as a family man, a lover, a CEO, a player, and much more. In my opinion, this made the character much more real. Also, it was funny watching his fights with Nikki and the fact that he went out of his way to tease her every now and them. Nevertheless, he wasn’t a total jerk, I do believe he had more good guy moments than I expected. In fact, I was too touched about how he cared for Nikki in his own way.
Nikki is quite a unique character. In fact, I must confess that she kind of remind me of myself a few years back, perhaps, even my actual self. She was so complicated, mysterious, cold, and b****y at the start of the novel and, while sometimes that tends to make the reader dislike her, I kind of felt that there was more to her personality. Probably, the author gave signals of that every now and then. I admire her strength, her sense of pride, and the fact that she could give herself one more chance for happiness.
If you are a fan from hate to love novels with a bunch of comedy and a touching yet sexy plot, I highly recommend this book to you.
5 hearts ❤
