Can love REALLY set you free?
Belinda Wu is in trouble. She’s just one bad day away from losing Bewitching Bites bakery, the business she built from scratch. The 80-hour weeks, the assistant who can’t bake, and the constant stress are taking a toll on her health. And on top of it all, Belinda is nursing a broken heart. When she rescues an injured raven in the park one evening, she has no idea he could be the answer to her prayers, or the final nail in her coffin.
Cole Erikson is a prisoner. Bound to his human master by a centuries-old spell, Cole refuses to let anyone get close to him until he is a free man. But when his escape plans turn dangerous and he ends up being rescued by a beautiful but impossibly sad woman, he can’t help but be drawn to her.
But love between a raven shapeshifter and a human girl is doomed to fail. Powerful forces are gathering in Crookshollow, determined to keep Cole and Belinda apart forever.
As you can see both, our hero and heroine, have their hands full with their lives, but faith can be quite persistence. One day, Cole is sent to her bakery to pick up a cake and that is all it took to ignite the spark that would seal their future forever. I have to say that even though this book is a romance, I believe the author add some scenes that are just too adorable and funny. I couldn’t help but laugh at how Cole enjoys teasing her and how she just blushed and follows his lead. Thought I am surprised she allowed someone into her heart after the huge broken heart that she was trying to nurse. It broke my heart to see how the spark when those two saw each other but he force himself to walk away because of his master, because he didn’t have the freedom to offer something to a woman like Belinda. However, I was snickering and smiling when faith decided that those two should meet again. Also, I was shouting at the book when I read more about that horrible master of Cole which gave every of his shifters a tattoo to control them.
In my opinion, this book is the perfect mixture of mystery, mainly regarding Cole’s world, comedy, and a cute/hot romance. I was totally immersed by in front page one. Therefore, I wish to recommend it to paranormal romance lovers. Nevertheless, I wish to warn you that you wish to read the author’s Steffanie other Crookshollow series because it seems it and this book are connected. Also, be aware that this book promise to become the start of a new series, you can imagine what that implies.
