Not even his past life as a former Marine and FBI agent could prepare him for the battle against the monster inside him, struggling to take hold. After an old nemesis of the Senary surfaces in Brooklyn, unleashing chaos and terror in the battered borough, Jon sets out to take him down. Instead, he ends up with far more than he bargained for when he clashes with the beautiful half-vampire hybrid, Lawan Knight.
After escaping near death and suffering unspeakable horror at the hands of vampires, Lawan trusts no one, regardless of species. In between bouts of drunken stupor, her only goal is to exterminate all those who’ve wronged her, including every member of Jon’s vampire bloodline. But Jon’s soulful eyes and quick smile crawls under her skin, transforming her black and white world into a hazy shade of gray.
As the days rapidly grow darker, Jon and Lawan turn to one another, but their inner demons threaten to tear them apart. The only way either of them will survive is if they overcome their greatest fear–
Wow, what a read! Jon is was a military man that hunted vampires until one night he became what he hunted. Luckily, with the help of the Hybrids, he is not a mindless, blood thirsty vamp. He now works with them doing what he’s always done. And it all seems to go well until he meets Lawan, a female Hybrid. Both Jon and Lawan are hot for each other but they both have some massive hang up. They do have one thing in common, they are hunting the same vampire. The vampire that tormented her and the brother of Jon’s sire.
Jon has always hunted vampires. He has a terrible time coping with what he has now become. Only able to drink his sister’s blood for sustenance, the guilt that he’s killing her slowly in gnawing away at him.
Lawan was tortured by the Gemini Twins. After being dumped at a hospital by one of them, all she think of doing is destroying them. His best friends are pills and booze and one crazy feline.
Both Jon and Lawan fight with everything they have against then enemy but also each other. They may overcome one of those things bit can they overcome both?
I really liked reading this book. About a quarter of the way through it I stopped and read the first book in the series then finished Black Bullet. This seems a bit darker than the first book, but very well written. The author seemed to have both characters full of ups and downs, highs and lows, a lot of emotion. Once you get started, there’s no putting it down! I’m very eager to read more of the Hybrids and can’t wait for the next one! This is a five star read!
