BOOK DESCRIPTION:

The Adventures of Fawn is a ‘coming of age’ series set in the magical world of Santa’s North Pole! The year is 1849, and legendary reindeer Comet and Vixen have a young daughter, Fawn. In this first book, ‘Til the Last Snowflake Falls’ the young reindeer spends far too many days alone in the stable at Santa’s Village with no friends and nothing to do.

While her parents caution her she’s much too young and inexperienced to go exploring outside Santa’s Village by herself, Fawn disagrees. Declaring, “I want some fun and excitement! I don’t care how dangerous it is!” she begins sneaking out each day in search of friends, excitement and adventure. She’ll find them all…but also find herself facing dangers like a fierce hungry wolf, a freezing North Pole blizzard, and the treachery of a sea captain capturing animals of the arctic to sell to a zoo in New York City.

Along the way, she’ll also learn some valuable lessons about what’s really important in life. The Adventures of Fawn are filled with fun and excitement for all ages!

Excerpt #1 from ‘Til the Last Snowflake Falls

Today was going to be the day!
Fawn had it all planned out. The young reindeer would wait until her dad and mum, Comet and Vixen, came home to the stable, and she was going to calmly explain how unhappy she was.
Sure…she’d mentioned it before, (more like every other day), but each time her bad mood had gotten the better of her and she’d wound up arguing with her parents. Each time they had told her she wasn’t old enough…not mature enough…to be going out on her own.
Fawn had often pondered over their words.
Not mature enough?!
She wasn’t exactly sure what that meant…but just the same she didn’t like the sound of it!
I think it’s like saying I’m still a baby! Darnit! I’m four and a half months old!!
Fawn was convinced fun…excitement….maybe even friends could be hers to enjoy if she was free to explore the world outside Santa’s Village.
I blew it those other times by getting too excited. If I can plainly and calmly explain to mum and dad how bored and lonely I amhow I need some friendssurely they’ll see how much I’ve changedhow much more ‘mature’ I am nowwhatever that means! I’ll wait for them to come homeand then I’ll show them.
Yes, indeed! She had it all planned out!
But sometimes even the best laid plans can fall apart.
Excerpt #1 from Book 2- The Ona Pendulum
It was at that very moment…something very strange occurred.
Santa and Wajic suddenly became motionless, and their faces appeared in energized broken patterns…almost like shattered, electrified pieces of glass. Every angle of the fractured pattern sputtered and flashed likenesses of them……but each one different. In some they looked younger…and in others, older…….and older still.
Fawn, Bunny, Snowboy and Doctor Weather were all quite surprised and taken aback. They had absolutely no idea what was happening…or what they should do. The only choice they had was to stand there powerlessly watching.
Then, just as suddenly as it began, it stopped.
Looking a bit overwhelmed, everyone just stood there…watching Santa and Wajic.
“Are you alright?” asked Fawn.
“Yes…perfectly fine.” Santa answered. He noticed the concerned looks on everyone’s face, and added, “Why do you ask?”
The Doctor explained, “Well…something just happened a moment ago. Very odd! You didn’t notice? You didn’t feel anything?”
Wajic stretched his arms and yawned.
“Come to think of it…I am a little tired all of a sudden.”
Santa brought a gloved hand up to cover his mouth, as he also yawned.
“Me, too! Hmmm. That’s very strange! What was it you saw?”
Fawn, Bunny, Snowboy and Doctor Weather gave them the details of what they’d seen, and with each piece of information, Wajic looked more and more worried.
Santa noticed.
“What is it, old friend?”
“I’m not quite sure, Kris. It could be nothing…or….it could be something! When we get back to the Village, I’ll head to my workshop and look into it.”
As he yawned a second time, Santa said, “Let’s just hope it’s nothing serious.”
Excerpt #1 from Book 3-Far And Yet So Near

“A little snow shouldn’t be a problem, eh?” Doctor Weather called out to Foddle.
For the umpteenth time, she brushed snow off Hutch that probably measured a couple of inches thick.
Foddle looked at a loss for words, as he flicked snow off his beard and face.
“What can I say?” he replied. “How could I have known?”
Bunny was completely covered in snow, and shouted angrily at Snowboy, “A little snow never hurt anybody! Isn’t that what you said?”
Snowboy couldn’t think of anything to say, except, “I’m sorry! Really! I am!”
He took a moment to look down at himself and then blurted out, “Hey! I think I’m getting bigger again!”
Once again, Bunny pointed a paw at him. “Stop that!!”
Snow was falling so heavily, it was difficult for anyone to even see the end of the dog teams.
Perched on Fawn’s back, Bunny cleaned snow off herself as best she could, and shook her head disgustedly.
“A drop-off into nothingness…Hangnail Pass…a Bridge with a mind of its own…playing ‘catch-up’ with a bunch of wandering reindeer…and now a heavy snowfall! What’s next? An earthquake?!”
Fawn’s eyebrows came down heavy over her eyes as she looked at her friend.
“Shh! Don’t say that! Don’t even think it! When folks say ‘Things could be worse!’…you’re not supposed to help things get that way!”

But when your best friend is a big demanding drag queen, and hosting the event, it’s impossible to say no. It’s one night, he convinces himself, and then he can get back to his reclusive life.

Scotty can handle the club for one night. It’s Christmas Eve after all, and the auction is for charity. Excerpt:
“We are going to be late, and I won’t get a good one.” Cheri linked her arm through Scotty’s, forcing her to pick up her pace.
“I was ready at nine. You just had to try on four pairs of my shoes,” Scotty replied.
“You have better taste in shoes than anyone else on the planet.”
“Because it used to be the only thing I wore.” Scotty gave her a look, ignoring the pain in her heels. Shoes were pain. A pain she used to like. Now it was a stark reminder. But everything was a reminder.
“Well, now you’re a big shot lawyer, and clothes are required.”
“But I like kicking ass, so it’s an equal trade-off.”
Cheri rolled her eyes and turned into the alley. This was a frequent trek for them while Scotty had been in law school, not so much in the last few years.
“Are you going to be okay if we see her?” Cheri asked.
Scotty didn’t meet her eyes. “I’ll be fine.”
A sinewy naked man greeted them at the door and collected their coats. They were long past showing their keys, getting a rundown of the rules, or being briefed on the night’s events. Cheri was still a regular, even if Scotty wasn’t. They were handed a menu of sorts. A heavy black card with a bold silver typeface, it was more like something seen at high dollar weddings, not a BDSM club.
“Good, because I know she’s on the menu for tonight.”
Scotty wrinkled her nose. She didn’t want to hear about it. She was blocked from Scotty’s mind, mostly. There was still the errant dream, but those could be written off to nothing more than job stress. She just hoped they wouldn’t last forever.
“I don’t care. The moratorium stands.”
Cheri held up her hands. “I thought you’d want to be briefed.”
Scotty took a deep breath and wrote it off. Cheri usually meant well, even if she did love gossip. Cheri probably knew more about Tanya’s sex life than Scotty ever had, and she was more than okay with it.
“Not necessary. It’s been years.” More than that since she’d stepped foot in here. It felt the same and yet different as they trudged up the well-worn metal stairs. Relationships don’t just end. They sink long before, she’d learned, and once trained to see the signs, it was easy to see when they started taking on water. It had been at least six months before the relationship ended that they’d stopped coming to the club. Or rather, Scotty’d stopped coming.
“If you say so.” Cheri took a left before the long hall of private rooms, taking them to the main play space and right up to the bar. “Two gin and tonics.” She looked at Scotty, who nodded. “Let’s grab seats in the back and peruse our options.”
“I’m only here for moral support.” And because Cheri had dragged her out, but Scotty wasn’t going to say as much. She took her drink from the bartender. It was one of the few nights of the year the bar was completely open, as there wasn’t going to be any play.
“And because you had nothing better to do on Christmas Eve?”
“Rub it in.” Scotty took a seat with her back to the wall. At least Tanya wouldn’t be able to sneak up on her that way. Who was Scotty kidding, she was backstage. She shouldn’t be this on edge. Tanya wouldn’t be down here.
Cheri set down her menu and brushed her fingers over the elegant silver inlay. “They went all out this year.”
It was true, the place was decorated to the nines. Mistletoe, garlands, and sprigs of pine garnished every surface. They even had a centerpiece on each table with two little candles. The lights were down low, and it gave the club a romantic air than it usually had with slapping flesh and normal spotlights usually allowed.
“Since people like us don’t have family to spend the holidays with, maybe they figured it would be nice.”
Cheri knit her brow, but she knew she was one of the lucky ones. She’d been raised in the city, and her parents were all welcoming when it came to her sexuality. They’d probably even be okay with the Domme stuff, if they didn’t already know. “Sure you don’t want to come to dinner tomorrow? My parents would love to see you.”
“As much as I love playing the role of your girlfriend.” Which she had for a few years, while they were both in undergrad. “I don’t want to keep intruding. They are going to start asking why you’re not popping the question.”
“We are much better as friends.” Cheri wiggled her brows, making Scotty laugh.
Cheri was the one who’d introduced her to the club, but things between them had only ever been casual play, and even that had ended when Tanya came around.
“We are. Now look here. There are five Dommes up for auction tonight. Five.” Cheri was practically bouncing in her seat.
“What?” Scotty made herself skim over her ex’s name, reading the bios of the other Dommes listed for auction. “No shit. It has been awhile since I’ve been around, hasn’t it? I didn’t think there were that many Dommes who played here.”
“Have I not been trying to get you to come play?”
“How do the Dominants look?” Scotty ran her finger along the other side, checking out the penises.
Cheri winkled her nose. “Are you serious?”
“You may be a confirmed lesbian, but you know I’m bi. I want to see what’s on offer.” In reality, nothing jumped out at her, but it was easier to look at the dick side of the menu so she didn’t have to see Tanya’s name. She could read the entire thing without getting sick to her stomach.
“I really thought you got that out of your system.” Cheri laughed. She loved to give Scotty a hard time, but Scotty never took it personally.
“So, who are you bidding on?”
“I don’t know.” She didn’t plan on bidding at all. The number she’d been given at the door was going to stay firmly on the table.
“Pick at least two.” Cheri flipped the menu back to the female side and pointed. “I’m not taking no for an answer. I want Tanya to see you putting yourself back out there. She’s fucked every sub who’s walked in the door since you.”
Scotty groaned and probably turned a little green.
“Don’t take it hard. You had to have assumed.”
Scotty looked at her drink.
“You thought she was pining after you like you have been her?”
She shrugged one shoulder. “She could realize any day what a mistake she made.”
Cheri put a hand on her arm. “She made a huge mistake, but her way of dealing with it is drowning in pussy, and you should take a note on that.”
Cheri didn’t mean it, but her words were like a knife to an old wound in Scotty’s chest. She was such a fucking idiot for still caring.
“Can we not?” The plea in her voice gave her away. It was too easy to slip back into that mindset. This was why she’d buried herself in her job. It was easier.
“Of course.” She could hear the frown in Cheri’s voice without looking at her.
“It’s going to start.” Scotty took a drink and sat back. “Tell me who you’re bidding on.” She moved her gaze to the submissive list on the female side of the card.
“I was thinking of bidding on Blue.” Cheri pointed to a name, and Scotty obliged her by reading the bio. They were similar to the weird things people put on dating sites. Along the lines of long walks on the beach, only more personalized. Blue’s started with her favorite breakfast cereal.
Scotty shook her head. “She’s right up your alley.”
“If not her, there are a couple after I’m willing to drop cash on. Now tell me your picks.”
Scotty sighed and flipped over to the male side again. She couldn’t even stomach looking at the names near Tanya. “How about Alexander?”
“He’s no Tarzan.” Cheri scoffed after reading his bio.
“Have you met him?”
Cheri gave her a look. It was her signature “he’s way overrated” look.
“That bad?”
“Yep.” She sighed and flipped over her own list. “I can’t believe I’m being forced to look at the beefcakes.”
“They can’t all be bad.” Scotty was secretly hoping they were all bad, then maybe she could get off without bidding.
“There are a few tolerable ones, and a couple I don’t know. I guess we’ll have to play it by ear.”
Her words were music to Scotty’s ear. “Sounds good.”
“Oh, no. No, no, no. Don’t you dare.”
“What?” Scotty was confused.
“This is for charity so you must spend some of your nest egg, and you have got to stop avoiding dating. Tanya is a jackass, but you love submitting. Don’t let her take that away from you.”
She nodded and was saved by the lights going dim.

review

Ever since Fifty Shades burst onto the scene, it seems like every time you turn around, you see a book about BDSM. More often than not, the author has never actually experienced the lifestyle first-hand, and that tends to aggravate those of us who live it. However, that does not seem to be the case with J. R. Gray, and that is refreshing. What I particularly liked about this novel is the fact that the hero, a Dominant, is portrayed as being human. The common trope in BDSM fiction is that the Dominant is an Alpha male who is supremely confident in his Dominance and has all his stuff worked through. In real life, as with this novel, a Dominant is, first and foremost, a human being with human failings. In the case of Stark, the death of his wife has turned him into a recluse. There is some sex in the book, but not as much as one might expect from a book with a BDSM theme. That is also refreshing.

I found a lot of myself in Scotty, the heroine. I’ve gone places, fearing I would run into an ex. I’ve backed out of doing things because of PTSD-like triggers, and I’ve worked through a lot with the help of a very human Dominant. I very much enjoyed the book and the only reason I am giving it a four out of five rather than a five is because there are parts that could use a little more exposition and seem rushed. This is definitely a story that could have benefited from being novel length. I definitely would love to know more about Scotty’s friend and roommate, Cheri. I don’t know if further installments of the series will afford me that opportunity or not, but I do hope so.

About the Author:

J.R. Gray, when not staying up all night writing, can be found basking in the warm glow of the Miami sun, or at the gym where it’s half assumed Gray is a permanent resident. A dominant, pilot, and sword fighting enthusiast, Gray finds it hard to be in the passenger seat of any car. Gray frequently interrupts real life, including normal sleep patterns, to jot down nonsense. The bane of Gray’s existence are commas, and even though it’s been fully acknowledged they are necessary, they continue to baffle and bewilder.

If Gray wasn’t writing…well, that’s not possible. The buildup of untold stories would haunt Gray into an early grave or possibly a mental institution where the tales would end up on the walls in crayon and finger paint.

Vampire Mafia…. Is the title of the book(s) well you would think the first book would have vampires nope not even mentioned to chapter 7 and that’s just with a V…. like someone’s getting ready to say the word but stops themselves. The books follow the life of two vampire families and their “friends”. They have great character development, a great plot, and great sexual content (hot, hot). Just so you know when a vampire falls in love they fall hard and fast. Not a short read so be ready to sit back with this book and enjoy sometime away. Will be looking for more books by this author.. Dream big and play bigger…

All in a Nights Work by Ilana Waters #Review

all“Oh dear. I think I’ve gotten myself into a bit of a fix again.”

It’s been a tough couple of months for Joshua, a mage. After battling vampires, despots, and demons, he heads to Chicago for some downtime, maybe even a little romance. Unfortunately, fate has other plans.

Joshua and his would-be lover are kidnapped by two vampires and threatened with death. The vampires agree to spare them, but only if Joshua helps find an ancient statue . . . by dawn. But he and his kidnappers aren’t alone in their search. Three other vampires want the statue as well, and not only do they kill those who get in their way, they ENJOY the killing.

It seems this mage just can’t stay out of trouble, even for one night.

***ALL IN A NIGHT’S WORK is a novella of approximately 19,000 words. It is Book 3.5 of the MAGE TALES, but can easily be enjoyed as a stand-alone work.

review

This was a really great short story that introduces the reader to a world of vamps, mages, witches and other paranormal creatures.  It works as a stand-alone novel, and teases you with just enough information to make you want to read the previous books!

As an independent reviewer for Romance Authors that Rock, I give it four hearts only because it was too short to get me emotionally involved in any of the characters.  I can see potential for engagement, but it didn’t happen here.  Maybe one of the other other books.  We shall see!!

review

I give this book 4 hearts

I thoroughly enjoyed this three part set even though I was hesitant going in. However I found the books to be well written, sexy, fun and engaging. I got to know all the characters to the point where I cared about them I thought about what they were doing and wanted to keep reading. Always a very good sign

All the stories revolve around Bourbon Springs Kentucky

The first volume is Secret Blend about Rachel and Brady two newly appointed judges that have known each other a long time but when they start working closely together it turns out keeping their sexy romance a secret may be harder than they thought. I loved this one sweet and sexy 🙂

Their is a fun bonus story that connects books One and two.

Volume 2 is called Filtered through Blue . This one follows Rachel’s best friend Hannah and Kyle the county sheriff who share a dark secret that is slowly eating at them both. When it finally comes to light there is a lot of anger but also a lot of love to soothe the wounds. I loved getting to know Hannah better.

Volume 3 is Angel’s share about Lila and Bo who we got to know pretty well in Hannah’s story. I was really hoping Bo would get his HEA as well. This one we finally get to see a softer side of Bo even if he can be a bit of a jackass and controlling still I liked it.

It was great to see the crossover of characters since all the books take place in the same town with people that you’ve come to know. To me this always makes a series more enjoyable when you get glimpses of previous couples lives you get to once again share in their happiness as well as see what’s happening with them.

Give these books a try if you enjoy a good ole romance with fun witty characters and some very hot and heavy scenes. All the books are stand alone with HEA but are better read together.

Great series here!  I’m enjoying the well written sex scenes as well as all the detail this author puts into every scene.  It feels as though I am there with the characters, even during flight scenes!  I’m growing fonder of the many members of their community as I read more of them in each story.

As an independent reviewer for Romance Authors that Rock, this episode gets four fully beating hearts for a suspenseful and exciting storyline.

Sleep Then My Princess by O.N.Stefan #review#

51h8pael4ml-_sy346_

Sleep then My Princess is an emotional thriller set in Arizona. While mourning the death of her husband, Senior Tissue Engineer, Stephani Robbins, is plagued by recurring visions of a child being locked up in a chicken coop. Meanwhile, someone is sending her creepy love poems, roses, and photos that have been taken without Stephani’s knowledge.
As more photos appear, the police suspect that Stephani has hired someone to take these photos. Before she can convince the police to take her seriously, she is kidnapped. While imprisoned she discovers why she has been having these visions and it is more chilling than she ever imagined. Can she make it out alive?

What some of my beta readers said…
Wow! You’ve got a thriller with a level of horrific reality here.
You take the reader inside a perverted serial killer’s head and an innocent woman whose life has been ripped from her and whose present season of recovery is being trespassed. You describe the love of an adoring niece for her mourning auntie and this connects the reader to the prologue and adds another level of emotion to this already captivating plot.
What a book!

I have to say ‘wow’ because your writing style is so picturesque. You show a every detail to plainly. I was captured right away.
The showing is real and to telling, which is a top virtue in any real book.
The main character Stephanie has a sassy attitude underneath all of the hurt. Her story is heart breaking and so deep I felt her agony.
This is a worthy read.

O.N. Stefan, this one is so chilling and well written. The villain jumps off the page at the reader and scare the bejeebers out of you. You descriptions of the lab scene in the first chapter are right on and her getting the poem was quite spooky. The conflict of the mother and Puddles was well done showing just the type of upbringing or lack of this man had. High stars!

I think you have a great novel here. The prologue is intense and urged me to keep reading, as well as setting the stage for when she discovers the pictures to give a sensation of malice. Your voice is exciting and the dialogue is good. It does seem more formal at times, but that is to be expected when having highly educated characters. I especially like your detailed descriptions and the use of medical terminology.

REVIEW
What do you do when you lose your husband, your son is in a coma, and the company you work for burns to the ground ? If you’re Stephani Robbins you move to Arizona with the hope of starting a new life. Great idea in theory but instead Stephani picks up a stalker and starts having visions of a child trapped in a chicken coop. She’s not sure if she’s losing her mind especially after she goes to the police and they think she’s making it all up. When she tries to get more evidence on the stalker she gets kidnapped. Now she has to figure out a way to get free and survive this crazy and deadly situation.
This mind blowing psychological thriller kept me turning the pages way past my bed time to see what would happen next. I just couldn’t put it down, I read it in one sitting it’s that good. I love that even though Stephani has been seriously hurt emotionally she still has some sass and spunk left in her. The writing is so descriptive I felt every emotion Stephani felt, all her pain, fear, frustration and anger. This is definitely a book worth reading if you’re into mystery, suspense and psychological thrillers. This one is right up there with the best of them. Kassandra’s last single friend got married in the summer. But even if she’s the only unmarried girl in the pack she isn’t single anymore. Now that all her friends are married and all the wedding planning is over, she has a chance to concentrate in her relationship with Josh. Or so she thought until Marisol visits her with a major life.changing crisis. Helping her friends plan their wedding was no problem─dealing with an unexpected pregnancy is a whole other thing.

Kassandra is unable to decide the best way to help Marisol, specially when her relationship with Josh starts reaching an amount of commitment that she wasn’t expecting. Both girls will have to remember the past in order to move their relationships forward.

Kassandra is a single, independent woman who prides herself on her own success. Now her life seems complete when Josh─a thoughtful, handsome, and the worst kind of charmer─leaves his womanizing days behind and can’t seem to stay away from her. Kassandra keeps wondering if their single days are really over and they’re ready for a monogamous and committed relationship.

Marisol is a married woman with the perfect life─A wonderful husband and a beautiful son. Life gets even better when her little boy is finally ready for school and Sol can go back to work.

Destiny is full of surprises for both girls, and sometimes the plans that you have aren’t the ones in the path before you.

Join Kassandra and Marisol as they remember how they planned Sol’s wedding while they solve together the difficulties in the present.

ABOUT K.T. Castle:

profile pic 2K.T. Castle loves reading, writing, and painting. She’s on a quest to find the words, forms, and colors to materialize the worlds and people of her imagination. She loves reading Paranormal, New Adult, and Contemporary Romance. She never saw herself as an incurable romantic, but lately, that’s what she finds herself musing about. Love is found everywhere, regardless of whether it comes from a nice person or an ass—mundane or even vampire.

When she’s not busy with work, in front of a computer placing many thoughts in order, she makes her best to be creative or relax with a good TV series and snacks. Some of her favorite characters are Jon Snow, Daenerys, Barney Stinson, Saint, Rome Archer, Rush, Gretchen McKay, and Cinderella.

The First Five Days of the Lionean Saga by John O & Archie A ##review##

51bxkfg1filWhen Yosi Sint ascends the military throne of Lionea, he immediately knows

that his life is in danger; as all who held the position before him died under
mysterious circumstances that could only have been as a result of Dark Arts.
Within the first five days of his rule, before he can begin to understand the
treacherous schemes at play, those who lurk in the shadows set into motion a
whirlpool of events that leave all who are caught within struggling for dear
life… An inopportune time indeed; for the beast to the North, a nation bent
on subduing the might of Lionea, stands poised to invade and finish what
they started eleven years ago.
In this medieval world of intrigue and peril, there’s no telling who will live or
die…

review

In this epic fantasy adventure by John O & Archie A Yosi Sint is chosen to ascent the military throne of the nation of Lionea. The problem with that is everyone before him has died under misterious circumstances. Now his life is  in immediate danger so he has to find out who and why.  While he’s trying to figure out who’s trying to kill him he also has to deal with another nation from the north Hell bent on taking over Lionea.  Can he figure out who’s trying to kill him and save his nation at the same time?  All this takes place in the first five days of Yosi’s rule.

The story is told through the eyes of several characters but it’s not hard to keep up with what’s going on, everything is clear through out the story.  There’s a complex history told about the nation and throwing adventure,  magic,  mystery, treachery and a strong cast of characters in and you have a great fantasy novel.  I couldn’t put it down and can’t wait to read book two I need to see what happens next.
