A Mighty Rolling Thunder by Kerry Alan Denney #Review
Posted by brriske
Spring, 2024: Two spirit hordes break through from another dimension, and make half the world’s population vanish. The spirits possess the survivors, dividing them into two groups: those who fight to retain their humanity, and marauders who destroy everything in their paths.
Artist Livi DeSilva is fleeing from possessed killers when she meets Conor McLain, a man suffering from amnesia. Outnumbered and outgunned, Livi and Conor team up and fight off homicidal lunatics and ruthless gangs, only to end up cornered by their deadliest foe: billionaire Victor van Danz, a psychopath who commands the new world’s dark forces. Victor craves immortality, and kidnaps Livi. He believes that when he kills Livi in front of her collection of canvases and absorbs her life energy, he will transform into a god.
With only Conor, two amazing dogs, and a band of plucky children to aid her, Livi must harness the power of the spirits inside her and use it to defeat Victor—or die in the clutches of amadman.
Livi DeSilva is a young artist who paints beautiful pictures that have hidden fae in them. She sees the world through different eyes to a lot of people and when the judgment comes she is saved. Uncertain of her role in the new world Livi packs her car, loads her most precious belonging her dog Beauty and starts driving.
Conor isn’t happy with his life somewhere along the way he has got lost. After the judgment Conor loses everything including his memory but luckily for him his dog T-Rex is still at his side. With no plan, other than to get out of the city Conor finds a car and with T-Rex he starts to drive.
When these two meet will they be able to make a difference when evil finds them?
Livi is a strong woman when she needs to be and it is easy to warm to her. She is caring and prepared to fit for what she believes is right. With Beauty at her side she finds the strength to survive and to build a new life.
Conor is a sad character to begin with and I was touched by his emotional pain throughout the book. I thought the authors use of Conor’s memory loss was fantastic as it allowed the story to move forward. The growth of his character is very well written and added a real depth the plot. T-Rex is agreat addition and made me smile several times.
Victor is a true evil in every sense of the word. Obsessed with Livi he will do anything and hurt anyone to have her. He is written in a way that provokes the reader to truly despise him from the beginning.
The plot is well written with likeable characters and although it’s a story of good and evil it has agreat depth and makes you feel a myriad of emotions.
I’m so glad that I have read this book and it will be one I’ll remember for a long time.
There are some sensitive situations in this book that may be difficult for some readers and although they are not described in detail they are implied.
Independent Reviewer for Romance Authors that Rock On
Colleagues and readers have dubbed Kerry Alan Denney The Reality Bender. The multiple award-winning author of the paranormal/ supernatural thrillers Marionettes (June 2016), Soulsnatcher (April 2014), Dreamweavers (August 2015), and the critically-acclaimed post-apocalyptic sci-fi/ horror thriller Jagannath (Permuted Press, February 2015), as well as numerous published short stories, Kerry blends elements of the supernatural, paranormal, sci-fi, fantasy, and horror in his work: speculative fiction at its wildest and craziest. With joy, malicious glee, and a touch of madness, he writes reality-bending thrillers, even when the voices don’t compel him to.
On July 24, 2015, Jagannath became a #1 Amazon bestseller. On March 31, 2015, Soulsnatcher won 2nd Place as 2014 Book of the Year in The Drunken Druid’s International Book Award competition. My novels have received numerous rave reviews on Amazon and Goodreads, and Jagannath and Soulsnatcher each received a rave blurb from New York Timesbestselling author James Rollins.
