The 11:05 Murders by Brian O’Hare #review#

51rppmq2opl
Three people are murdered on separate Tuesday evenings at precisely 11.05. Random clues point to random suspects, but too many questions remain unanswered. Why 11.05pm for each killing? Is there any connection between these deaths and a rape that occurred at Queen’s university twelve years before? What is the connection between the killings and Sergeant Stewart’s mystery informant? Who is the violent stalker who twice nearly kills Detective Allen? What is his connection, if any, to the murders? When one of his team is kidnapped, Inspector Sheehan has literally only minutes to make sense of these questions if he is to save his colleague’s life.
review1
Someone is killing men on Tuesdays at exactly 11:05 pm. Now WDS Denise Stewart and the other officers of Serious Crimes Division are on the job. The suspect pool is large and muddied with lies, finger pointing and half truths.  Now Denise is new to the SCD and has to get used to Chief Sheehan and how he runs his division.  Not only that she suddenly has the feeling she’s being watched. Now the big questions are who is the killer and is someone stalking Denise?  To find out you’ll have to read this great thriller.
The author writes a thrilling murder/mystery that keeps you guessing to the end.  Normally I can figure out who done it before the end but this one kept me wondering. I really enjoyed that.  I enjoyed how the characters seemed to come to life for me and have no complaints about this book. I give it a solid strong 5. This book is an OnLineBookClub.org Book of the Day.

Drone World by Jim Kochanoff

Book Genre: Science Fiction/ Young Adult
Publisher: Silver Leaf Books
Release Date: September 1, 2016
Buy Link(s): https://www.amazon.com/Drone-World-Book-1-ebook/dp/B01JDYUSQY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1483838069&sr=8-1&keywords=drone+world+Jim+KochanoffBook Description:

The novel “Drone World” is set in a futuristic dystopian city like the books of Divergent or Maze Runner. The book’s content is similar to the movies ‘Minority Report’ (predicting crime) meets ‘Logan’s Run’ (authority determines when you die).

This book is topical – it looks at a city where drone technology is common place. Today drones are part of our lives from the military to enforcement to entertainment. Not just outside our windows – everywhere we live, eat, shop and the many forms they take.

Imagine a city with cameras on every corner, monitoring your every move. A world where no crime goes unpunished, no criminal can escape. No place you can hide.

I live in the safest city in the world . . . until I tried to leave it.

Excerpt One:
Big
mistake
. Its
circuits fired and it spiraled limply to the ground. Its legs kicked
a few times and then its eye went dark. Two enemies down in as many
seconds. There was hope for me yet. I looked over at the limp form of
the officer.
Why
doesn’t your drone,” I pointed to the half man half machine
floating silently, “pick up your partner? He could be dead if he
doesn’t get any medical attention,” I said. The smaller officer
glared at me but it took his attention away from the useless radio.
Drones
have to be given direction. They can’t think on their own,” he
answered defensively.
Well,
your hawk just thought on its own.” I indicated the smoking
circuits on the ground. One of its feet stirred slightly.
They
have some artificial intelligence, with an innate response to
investigate questionable activities.”
Curiosity
got it killed,” I replied sarcastically.
Looks
like that is going around,” he answered. His intent was not lost on
me. His radio sparked to life.
All
units to main level. Multiple explosions throughout city. All drones
to staging area for assignment. Situation critical.” The remaining
hawk drones flew out down the hall, having received their assignment.
They went into a vent and must have flown up to the surface. The
man-sized drone began to move off when the officer placed his hand on
its shoulder.
Stay
with us,” he commanded. The drone remained in place. I wondered how
it decided what commands to listen to and what commands to ignore. We
turned to the left, away from the elevator and towards a set of
stairs. The officer tried to pull open the door and immediately
pulled back.
It’s
hot,” he said to no one in particular and motioned to the drone to
go first. The machine reached with its metal hand and pulled the door
handle forward. A great rush of heat burst towards us as the fresh
air fed the flame. The drone expelled a white foam at the fire,
extinguishing it in seconds. Blue smoke replaced the fire and my
throat tightened. The officer opened up the side of the drone and
pulled out two oxygen masks.
Take
it.” He motioned to me. I coughed and slipped it over my mouth. We
climbed the stairs, where the sickly smoke made visibility difficult.
There were several minutes of climbing before we reached the ground
level, one floor higher than where I was held captive. We opened the
door to a courtyard and I surveyed the city. I felt sick. There were
fires, a huge crater in a street and people were streaming into the
park.
What
happened while I was captured? How could the safest city in the world
turn to this?

Realm of the Dragon by Cici Cordelia #Review #giveaway #goddessfish

Realm Of The Dragon
by CiCi Cordelia

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE: Paranormal
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

An ancient legend spanning eras, continents, and worlds. To some, it’s nothing more than a dream. To others, a pretty fairy tale handed down through the generations.

For those in critical need of their own happy ending, a gift.

For sheltered Lily Kiers, it’s all too real. Her escape from danger, straight into the arms of her destiny.

Thrust into a realm made of fantasy and unbridled passion, Lily faces violent resentment and jealousy from extremely powerful enemies. Amidst fierce creatures whose very existence defy all common sense, Lily pieces together a past she could never have imagined.

Claimed by Kord, Prince of Battle Draconian, their love will not be denied, even as malevolent forces plot to rip them apart.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
EXCERPT
The power of her passion, twining through him, almost brought Kord to his knees. He wanted to take her down to the lush grass, peel the silky tunic from her perfect breasts, and caress every inch of her skin. All his good intentions to be patient were on the verge of crumbling.
His dragon’s insistence that he claim her here and now severely tested his control. The last thread of his resistance slipped away.
“Lily,” he groaned against her lips, cupping her soft breast in his palm.
“Yes.” She arched and shuddered, seeking another kiss, opening wider for his tongue. Her nails dug into his shoulders.
The realm, the games, his impending challenge . . . it all spun away as he lost himself in Lily’s kisses. Her passion drove him mad with want. Until he finally gathered enough brain control to remember his promise to proceed with patience, and managed to break the kiss.
The needy purr she formed of his name, pierced his heart.
“Lily—”
“I’m thinking Prince Big Bro could use some cooling off.” The voice, tinged with familiar, cheerful sarcasm, infiltrated Kord’s fogged senses.
He lifted his head and stared dumbly at his annoying brother, then glanced at Lily, who looked as dazed as he felt.
Bakka flashed a grin as he swept into an expansive bow, bending low.
review
This a cute story of paranormal mystery. You find the author is able to draw you in from thebeginning and keep you interested. However, there was a disconnect with the characters as you couldn’t really relate to any of them. I would have liked to see more development for them to really create that tether. Also would have like a prologue or a few starter chapters that led to the opening just to really drive home the plot as we were thrown right in without any background. Though theanswers came later I believe seeing the heroine in her human world would have added to it. Based on content I rate this book for mature adult audience of 18+. I am an independent reviewer ofRomance Author’s That Rock and rate this book 4 Hearts
Junior Inquisitor by Lincoln S. Farish #review#
51sfkazwdxl-_sy177_
Brother Sebastian is halfway up a mountain in Vermont, hell-bent on interrogating an old woman in a
shack, when he gets the order to abandon his quest for personal vengeance. He has to find a missing
Inquisitor, or, more likely, his remains. He’s reluctant, to say the least. Not only will he have to stop
chasing the best potential lead he’s had in years, this job—his first solo mission—will mean setting foot
in the grubby black hole of Providence, Rhode Island. And, somehow, it only gets worse…
If he’d known he would end up ass deep in witches, werewolves, and ogres, and that this mission
would jeopardize not only his sanity but also his immortal soul, he never would’ve answered the damn
phone.
review1
Lots of violence definitely for mature readers only. This book is a OnLineBookClub.org Book of the Day.
Brother Sebastian is a Inquisitor,  he works for the church hunting down and destroying evil. He is on a personal mission of vengeance, hunting  down a lead to the witch that killed his wife and unborn child when he gets a call from Brother Otto to go to Providence Rhode Island. He doesn’t want to give up his own mission but he has no choice. He is sent to find a missing Inquisitor Brother James and see what’s going on in Providence. Little does he know that there’s werewolves,ogres, Muscle and witches trying to destroy him. His life, eternal soul and his sanity are all in danger in this action-packed fast paced story of evil incarnate.
I really enjoyed this book, there was lots of interesting creatures, violence and danger at every turn. I couldn’t put it down I read to the wee hours of the night turning pages I just had to know what was going to happen next. Just when Sebastian thinks he can catch his breath something else comes out of the woodwork hell-bent on destroying him. I will definitely be reading book 2 I can’t wait to see what happens to Sebastian and what other creatures the author has thought up. Wish I could give this more than 5 stars it totally rocked. If you’re into creatures that go bump in the night, witch hunts, and evil abounding then this is the book for you. My only complaint is the book wasn’t long enough for me I would have loved to have read more but then that’s what book two is for.
The Daddy Game by Shadez #review#
419hjajghjl-_sy177_
Ever wonder what goes through the mind of a guy some people would call a Deadbeat Dad? Well here’s one that will tell it to you straight and uncensored…from his side!
He’s a young man dealing with possibility of becoming a father due to an unexpected, unplanned and unwanted pregnancy. He knows this is a trap and he is determined to do everything he can to not let this become his responsibility.
Pressured by his ex, her family and her friends; watched by his friends; and tempted by women everywhere he looks; he knows the only way for him to win this game – is to play dirty!
review1
The is a great, funny in places, story of a young man named DeShaun Childrens. Now normally you only see the story of so called “dead beat dads” from the mother’s POV and not the dad.
This is the story from the dad’s POV.  Now normally I like or sometimes even love the main character but this time I couldn’t like him but I did respect his point. He’s an egotistical selfish “player” who only sees women as a piece of a** and nothing else. When his ex girlfriend Tiffy gives him the call most men don’t want, he decides he’s not the father and acts as such through the whole pregnancy. He’s dating another girl named Janell while playing Tiffy and using Janell too. I really enjoyed seeing this whole situation through the eyes of the man and even though I didn’t like DeShaun I appreciate the honesty the author used. Definitely an interesting and different view of the “deadbeat dad” situation. This book was an OnlineBookClub.org Book of the day.
Deadly Delusions by Barbara Ebel, M.D. #Review #giveaway
Deadly Delusions
by Barbara Ebel, M.D.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

GENRE: Suspense/thriller

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
Under the auspices of a stellar attending doctor, medical student Annabel Tilson flourishes on her psychiatry rotation where Victor Blake is the first patient safely ensconced in her care. While other complex and unexpected patients come under the psychiatry team’s care and Annabel dabbles in her own risky behavior, Victor is ready for discharge and is sent home. In the coming week after her star patient is given his freedom, however, Annabel and her mentor have no idea about the harrowing cascade of events taking place.
Readers beware: this chilling psychiatric patient will impact them all.
*****
Please enjoy DEADLY DELUSIONS which is Book Two in the medical and personal adventures of medical student Annabel Tilson. Book One is DEAD STILL. Each book is also a standalone novel.
Annabel’s novels are a spinoff from her father’s series, The Dr. Danny Tilson Novels, especially Book Four – Secondary Impact. Those books are:
Book One: Operation Neurosurgeon
Book Two: Silent Fear: a Medical Mystery (also an audiobook)
Book Three: Collateral Circulation: a Medical Mystery (also an audiobook)
Book Four: Secondary Impact suspense/thriller
Annabel smiled. “Correct,” Selina said and leaned forward. “Now, tell us more about your background. Can you remember being involved with team sports or having many friends five or ten years ago?”
Victor raised his eyebrows in surprise. “I had a skateboard when I was little but stopped riding it. Later, I watched other kids play basketball. At first I wanted to shoot baskets like them but then I was unmotivated and they pretended I wasn’t on the spectator’s bench.”
“What about friends outside of basketball?”
Victor twitched one shoulder. “Nah. Over time, I was different from everybody at school. It was easier to go home where my mother let me buy turtles at first. Afterwards, I had two gerbils. Of course, I switched later to other things.”
Annabel made another key point for her ongoing paper project. ‘Progressive social isolation.’
“Having pets taught you to care for other living things,” Selina said, “so I’m glad you mother allowed you to keep them. Perhaps through the group therapy sessions, you can talk more at ease with patients like yourself. It’s a start … to be less withdrawn. Engaging in some activities with family or friends is productive and keeps patients like you centered in the real world.”
“Okay, doc.” He stood up. “I want to come back on Wednesday for that. Can I go now?”
“Yes, Victor, you may take off. Keep up the good work.”
“Good bye,” Annabel said. “Thanks for helping me with my education.”
Victor smiled. “As long as you don’t make fun of me,” he said.
“Never,” Annabel replied.
“You can write the update,” Dr. Keeton said when Victor left, “and I’ll sign the progress note if it meets with my approval. Our star paranoid schizophrenic is managing his illness.”
Annabel felt confident her note would be worthy of Selina’s signature.
review1
There is a whole host of authors who started their professional lives in a very different occupation and their writing is informed by the knowledge base of their former profession. The problem with some of those writers is that they sometimes forget that those of us who haven’t spent thirty years in the military, or who haven’t spent half of our lives digging up bones, or practicing medicine, or catching bad guys, or whatever, well, we don’t have the benefit of all that experience and, as a result don’t have the vocabulary or jargon to be able to understand what they are writing. Thankfully, Dr. Ebel did not make that mistake. This book is the second in the Annabel Tilson novels, and it is a stand alone book. I have not read the first book, but unlike some series fiction claiming to be standalone, this one does actually seem to be. There are some references to things that happen in Annabel’s past, which I presume come from the previous novel. However, they could simply have just been things that have happened in the character’s past; the enjoyment of this book was not spoiled by not having read the first book.
In this novel, Annabel, a third year med student, finds herself in a psychiatry rotation. I found the discussion of the various versions of mental illness that the patients with whom Annabel and her fellow students come in contact handled with knowledge and respect. The attending, Dr. Keeton, is portrayed as a mentor in every sense of the word, and it makes the reader wish she were his or her own physician. What I particularly enjoyed about the book, however, is the fact that all of the characters are written with very human failings, which makes them all very three-dimensional. It would have been so easy for the author to portray the patients as stereotypes, but they weren’t.
Readers of Robin Cook and Kathy Reichs will likely enjoy this series. There are discussions of somewhat risky behavior and the vocabulary is, due to the subject matter, relatively advanced, so I would recommend it to mature readers 16+.
A Boy Like you by Ginger Scott #Review
boyThey say everyone’s a superhero to someone. I’m not sure who I’m supposed to save, but I know who saved me.
We were kids. His name was Christopher. And up until the day he pulled me from death’s grip, he was nothing more than a boy I felt sorry for. In a blink of an eye, he became the only person who made me feel safe.
And then he disappeared.
Now I’m seventeen. I’m not a kid anymore. I haven’t been for years. While death didn’t take me that day, the things that happened left me with scars—the kind that robbed me of everything I once loved and drove me into darkness. But more than anything else, that day—and every day since—has taken away my desire to dream.
I wasn’t going to have hope. I wouldn’t let myself wish. Those things—they weren’t for girls like me. That’s what I believed…until the new boy.
He’s nothing like the old boy. He’s taller and older. His hair is longer, and his body is lean—strong and ready for anything. I don’t feel sorry for him. And sometimes, I hate him. He challenges me. From the moment I first saw him standing there on the baseball field, he pushed me—his eyes constantly questioning, doubting…daring. Still, something about him—it feels…familiar.
He says his name is Wes. But I can’t help but feel like he’s someone else. Someone from my past. Someone who’s come back to save me.
This time, though, he’s too late. Josselyn Winters, the girl he once knew, is gone. I am the threat; I am my worst enemy. And he can’t save me from myself.
review
Excellent.  Loved the characters.  This story pulled me in quickly and I fought to make myself put it down for family and work both!!  Tears were shed, both happy and sad ones.  Frustration emerged at the end as I hadn’t realized this was episode one of a new series and it ended rather abruptly.  I’m good with continuing serial books, I just hadn’t expected this one to be one!
As an independent reviewer for Romance Authors that Rock, this author gets a full five beating hearts for teen angst and true love!  Enjoy!  Hopefully the second book won’t be too far behind this one!!
Valentine for Two is a contemporary romance menage box set. All the stories have a little Valentine theme weaved into it. The set consists of 10 menage related novellas. It has a bit of everything – romance, drama, sports, paranormal, a few laughs and yes – it’s a book about menage so erotica.
Each story stands on it’s own some will grab you more than others. They are well written, the characters are multifaceted for the most part. The book is an anthology and they are novella’s several I would like to see as stand alone because I enjoyed the story so well and wanted to know more about the characters and their growth alone and together. Two on One Breakaway was probably my favorite, and the one that left me wanting to know more, about Haley, Ian, and Derek.
Overall, the stories flow nicely, I would recommend this for anyone that loves menage, but think if you are looking for something to spice up Valentine’s Day – this is definitely worth the read. 4 hot hearts
