Bad War by Summer Cooper and Stephen Kingston

Vietnam has taken my friends and almost my life.
Some days, I wish that I had died on that battlefield with them, at least they won’t have to deal with the humiliation I’m about to face when I get sent home.
What’s Mary going to say about her wounded husband?
How am I going to give her the life I promised her now?
She deserves better…
All I wanted was a chance to see him again, to spend another night of passion with him.
That day is finally here!
The day that I’ve most looked forward to, but also the day that I’ve most dreaded.
Now he’s coming home, I’ll do everything in my power to make him the happiest man on the planet… for as long as I can… whatever it takes.

In my opinion, Zeb knew what was wrong with his family and the people in town. Through the novel, the author gave hints that point the hero towards the truth. Nevertheless, the joy and relief overtook his mind. I believe that aspect is part of what made the plot so credible. Now, regarding our hero itself. He was very likable. I admire his determination and a good heart. Honestly, who wouldn’t like a man so devoted to his family? He gave everything because of that devotion but even when he did, for some reason, I understood his reasons. I am a crybaby so I kind of shed a tear or two at some point, I am not telling you to which part of the novel. Nonetheless, I advise you to have a tissue near if you are one to cry easily.
Now, for all of you that like HEAs and need them so bad in their novels, this kind of has one. In my opinion, it does but there are others that will debate that. I guess it depends on how you interpret it. Nevertheless, I believe that it ended as it should have and for that, I give extra points to the author! You know how to mix happiness, sadness, and mystery in one golden ending. I highly recommend this novel to everyone that loves a tormented alpha hero that will go to any extreme in order to be with his family once more.
