Hard Time by Hope Conrad

Thomas Street is an ex-con, but before he got out of prison, he locked eyes with her…
The moment Street sees Katie serving food in a hellhole of a prison, he wants her. Her sweet little body against his. Under his. Her screaming his name until she admits she’s never had better.
Now he’s found her again, working in a bookstore of all places, and she’s just as gorgeous as he remembers. Only Katie thinks he can be redeemed. That there’s a good man underneath his darkness.
He’s not so sure.
But then Katie becomes his. Katie and her daughter.
And he’ll risk everything, including fighting the devil himself, to protect them.
This book is the first in the Hard as Nails series and ends in an HEA. Katie has a dead end job in prison food service. She finds a mutual attraction with an inmate, Street. They never speak, but she can’t seem to forget about him. Two years later, Katie is out of an abusive relationship with a daughter in tow. She now works at a bookstore, when Street walks in.
>The pull between Street and Katie is undeniable, but I wouldn’t really call this romance. Street has a hard time getting past his thug past and everything bringing him down, while Katie has trouble saying no to yet another bad boy. When the first sexual encounter is in a car, romance is not anywhere near.
>Street is a likable character. Katie seems to be the first one to believe in him until the MC is introduced at the end of the book. Those men stuck with Street as well, only in secret. The parts of the book from Street’s point of view show how protective he had always been towards Katie and how much he loves her. Katie sure stands by her man, but as a mother, she thinks the only danger is Riley meeting Street?
>I am a reviewer for Romance Author’s that Rock. This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving the story 4 hearts. The relationship seems solid, but the danger from Street’s past was only hinted at. The story was fast moving, but not particularly romantic.
