To Catch a Spirit by Carrie Pulkinen
Posted by brriske
A psychic who’s afraid of ghosts and a billionaire with a haunted past and a hidden power find that only love can catch a spirit.
Psychic Allison Gray has a soft spot for Logan Mitchell, even though she’s never met him. All it takes is one encounter for the billionaire’s true emotions to slip through her shields, and she’s intrigued. But a harrowing incident from her past has left her terrified of spirits, and the ghost that’s haunting Logan is doing everything in her power to keep Allison away.
Born an empath, Logan is constantly barraged with human emotions. While his talent of reading people has come in handy in the business world, it’s about to drive him insane. Literally. Logan has OCD, and his psychic ability triggers unbearable attacks that have him counting and cleaning until he collapses from exhaustion. Even worse, he’s plagued with recurring visions of his future wife’s death, so he’s spent his entire life avoiding love. He’s given up hope of ever having a normal life, until he meets Allison.
She’s everything he’s ever dreamed of, and now he has to decide if loving her is worth risking her life.
*To Catch a Spirit is a steamy paranormal romance with a guaranteed happily ever after. However, it does deal with mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, and suicide.
Allison Gray is a psychic who spends her time getting rid of negative energy from antiques and dreaming of becoming a therapist. In my opinion having her powers is tame compared to other paranormal creatures. However, it still complicates her life. I can’t imagine how my life would be like if I get the vibes or everything and everyone around me. Being a medium would be even worse for me. Honestly, she is my hero for handling so much in her life. A strong heroine like her is quite popular in plenty of novels lately and I am glad for that. It is kind of refreshing having a woman save the day by herself or doing as much as the hero. In my opinion, this motivates women to achieve greater things and this book is perfect for that.
Now, the hero. Logan is portrayed as every lady’s dream. He is rich, handsome and a bachelor. Nevertheless, he isn’t interested in romance. Kind of typical but for very good reasons: 1) gold diggers surround him and 2) he had a vision of the suicide of a woman he fell in love with. Yeah, he also has special powers. Logan is, in fact, an empath that lacks control. He can’t shield himself and that pushes him to loneliness even when he is surrounded by people. The moments I read the party scene I knew these two were a match made in heaven. They complement each other so well and see past the mask that the other insists on keeping.
This sounds like a typical romance plot but I promise there are a lot of twists that will have you on edge. In fact, there is this troublesome lady that will do her best to keep them apart. Jealous stalker? Perhaps, but she isn’t your average obsessive lady. I would highly recommend this novel to any paranormal romance lover out there that enjoys a romance full of drama and surprises.
