Nikki Landis: Dark Alpha Romance
Feed Your Addiction

Fallen from Grace is a story about Bash and Emily. The book starts out with Emily coming to after a car wreck. She died and was saved by a dark angel that stole her heart completely in the very limited process. Jarrod, her fiancée is trying to console her that she is safe, and sound and the accident is over, but she feels like she cheated on him, when nothing really happened but that the angle with the ebony wings saved her. The next day Jarrod took Emily home and she felt silly and unwanted, so she took in the attention that Jarrod was paying her and tried to start feeling normal, as in how she felt before the accident. Emily then has a dream and finds out that Bash did still want to be with her but had to let her go back. While they are talking though, Emily feels a burning on her arm and Bash tells her he has to let her go that he has put her in danger. Then we find out how she is in danger, but I will leave that to you to find out.

This story is great. The characters develop fast and draw the reader right in. The way things start it just grabs the reader and keeps you wanting to read more and not put it down. This is a great change from the normal paranormal romance. If you love paranormal romance, then you should try this story. If you are a fan of angel romances, then I would say this is a must read for you.

I’m giving this book 5 hearts

The Glue by K. Webster #Review

The Glue

by K Webster

Publication Date: September 5, 2018

Genres: Taboo Treat

Purchase: Amazon US | Amazon UK | Amazon CA

I’m a fixer. A lover. Always searching for the right fit.

And I come up empty every time.

My desires are unusual.

I don’t feel whole until I’m in the middle, holding it all together.

Which makes having a romantic relationship really difficult.

Until them.

Two people. An unraveling marriage. Love on the rocks.

And they want me.

To put them back together again.

Problem is, once they’re fixed, where does that leave me?

I sure as hell hope I stick like glue.

***This story is MMF.***

Rating: 4 out of 5 Hearts

Review: For those of you for whom it is an issue, this is an MMF ménage book. If you do not like that sort of thing, do yourself, and the author, a favor and move on. It is also erotic fiction, so recommended only for readers 18+. Now that the disclaimers are out of the way, on to the review!

They say that you should never bring a baby into your marriage if it’s in trouble. Unfortunately, not bringing a baby into the family is what causes the marriage between Vale and Vaughn to be in trouble. Because of infertility issues, their marriage is on the verge of breaking and neither of them know what to do about it. Enter Aiden, a college student who hates being in school and who happens to be one of Vaughn’s students. Aiden also picks up a part-time job with Vale working in her coffee shop/bakery. Unbeknownst to any of them, they are all lusting after one another and, when the truth comes out, Vale and Vaughn’s marriage might break apart for good, or Aiden might just be the glue that holds them together.

I really enjoyed this fast read. The book is written in first person, but the chapters alternate between points of view, and that can be off-putting for some readers, so keep that in mind. The characters are well drawn and the author has done a great job of depicting a marriage in trouble. I will definitely be checking out further novels set in this world! As I said in my disclaimers, this book is full of hot sex, and if you don’t like that, and/or it would cause you to leave a negative review, move on to something more of your liking and leave this sort of book to those of us who really enjoy it!

Her Alpha Mismatch by Emilia Hartley

Like many fox shifters, Regina Woodward is stuck in the fifties. She loves vintage clothing and classic movies. What she doesn’t love is controlling male foxes who expect perfect homemaker wives. She’s just about given up on ever finding a mate when her friend Nessa, the local matchmaker, suggests she date Oscar Torres.

An alpha bear.

Regina’s mother would have a conniption just hearing about it.

Not that Regina’s sure she wants to hook up with Oscar anyway, seeing how he’s closed-off emotionally. But when he asks for her help to save a wild fox-shifter who has been getting into trouble up north, Regina can’t refuse. And the more time she spends with Oscar, the more she loses her heart.

To an emotionally constipated bear her only remaining family is going to hate.

There’s no way this ends well—is there?

Content Warning: This book contains lots of sexy shifter action. Intended for a mature audience only

Unlucky at finding her mate, Regina Woodward laughed as her friend Nessa when she mentioned Oscar Torres, Alpha of the Santa Cruz pack, as a potential match for her. Her mother wanted her to marry a fox shifter, but there were so few of them out here, so that is why she turned to Nessa her matchmaking friend.

Oscar Torres got a report from Jorge and Red that there was a wild shifter wandering streets and pilfering trash between Oscar’s territory and Big Basin. Oscar would like to help him, invite him into the pack, but most of his shifters were big and strong and this fox might not be a good fit for his pack and he didn’t want to make things worse for the fox. As Regina cleaned up the books from the reading session with the children, she saw Oscar Torres walk in! He chatted with her but didn’t tell her why he was there. She assumed Nessa may have mentioned that he was Regina’s perfect match, and commented on how “audacious” that was! But he calmly asked why she thought so, and she blushed furiously. He tried to indicate he had a question about the fox shifter, but he didn’t want to say “shifter” in a public place. Oddly, his bear was furious, wanting to make things right for her – but she was not of his pack or a date? His bear shouldn’t be so worked up??

An Angel’s Unintentional Entanglement by Tena Stetler #Review

Fallen warrior angel, Caden Silverwind, lives alone in Colorado’s rugged Rockies, healing from physical wounds as well as the mental anguish suffered during battles with dark demons. Then he finds a woman barely clinging to life after a horrendous beating. He is not prepared for the entanglement she brings to his life, nor the feelings she awakens in him.

Bureau of Indian Affairs Agent, Mystic Rayne’s personal dilemma and assignment nearly gets her killed. Divine intervention is a complication she never expected and her growing attraction to Caden is undeniable. Can she trust him with her secret?

Their quest to uncover her attacker takes them from the pristine mountains in Colorado to the wilds of Wyoming. Along the way, they find answers which may place them in more danger. Determined to solve the mystery, they must also navigate their feelings and fears to find love and unite heaven and earth.

Caden and Mystic had quite the journey together.  The author really manages to the in the romance well with the underlying supernatural problem. Tying in each character’s own past to the present problems. There is a lot about Angel mythology and Native American tribes throughout the story which gave the story a more realistic vibe. Based on the relationship between the two MC’s this book is for a mature audience. As an independent reviewer for Romance Authors That Rock whose thoughts and opinions are her own, I give this book 4 Hearts.

Trouble Magnet by DelSheree Gladden #Review

Eliza Carlisle has the unwanted talent of attracting trouble, in all its forms. That couldn’t be truer than when she moves into the most bizarre apartment building on the planet. Weekly required dinners with the landlord and assigned chores are bad enough, but the rules don’t end there. Top most on the list of requirements is NO physical violence against the others residents.

There have been issues.

In the past.

The young manager, Sonya, claims that hasn’t been a problem recently, but Eliza comes home from her first day of culinary school to find a dead resident, her next door neighbor looking good for the crime, and a cop that seems more interested in harassing her than solving the case.

All Eliza wanted was to escape her past and start over, completely anonymous in a big city. That’s not going to be so easy when the killer thinks she’s made off with a valuable piece of evidence everyone is trying to get their hands on. The ultimatum that she turn it over to save her own life creates a small problem. Eliza has no idea what the killer wants, or where the mysterious object might be.

If she can’t uncover a decades old mystery in time, surviving culinary school will be the least of her problems.

I’m an independent reviewer for Romance Authors That Rock.. this is the first book in this series… And what a start.. it’s has twist and turns.. never would of guessed who the killer was… Everything Elizabeth really did attract trouble… Loved how Baxter took care of her… even from the start of the book… He took her under his wing from the beginning of the book… I will be reading the rest of the series…

Madhouse by Miguel Estrada #Review

Don’t talk to strangers.

Faced with his parents’s divorce, eleven-year-old Lucas runs away from his house with the hope that his family will get back together to find him. On his way walking through the empty streets, he is picked up by a mysterious woman who offers to take care of him and provide him with a loving family.

The boy then wakes up in shackles, confined to a bed in a decrepit house in the middle of nowhere and will have to face his deepest fears in order to survive in his new home.

Join Lucas in a desperate attempt to get back to his family in Madhouse, the first published book from horror-thriller author Miguel Estrada

This book is a standalone horror story. Lucas is a young boy who runs away and is immediately kidnapped by a crazy couple. Lucas comes face to face with all of his fears, especially his fear of the dark. This story is extremely violent with a lot of the story taken up with descriptions of the rooms Lucas finds himself in as he runs for his life. The book seems to want to take an erotic twist with the woman and mannequin dancing in the basement, but never follows through.

>The story seems very one-sided. Lucas’ point of view is the only one used. Maybe showing how his parents or the town reacted to Lucas going missing would have added some sense of mystery to the story. As the story is written, it is just one horrific scene after another. The story ends abruptly with a plot twist, but the original reason for Lucas running away is never addressed.
>This book is appropriate for a young adult (16+) audience. I am giving this story 4 stars. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from Romance Authors that Rock. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Daddy’s Secret Mountain House by Nina Rains #Review

Me? A submissive? Never.

BDSM is only part of my research, but I never expected it to arouse my whole being. I tried to deny what my body and mind wanted. Being a slave was never in my book. But… he came and made me crave for it.

It was supposed to be just a one-night stand, but Thomas Anderson awakened me from my mediocre sex life. He gave me pain and pleasure that renewed me. He made me surrender to my lust. I tried to hold back on romance.

But, my heart – no – the whole of me became greedy. I wanted more.

The way he touched me,…

The way he kissed me, and…

The way he owned me – in his rough and beautiful manner…

They all pulled me deeper into the abyss of submission.

And, a slave to him I wanted to be.

Warning: This standalone novella will arouse your sexual fantasies. It is filled with steamy erotic scenes from the start to the end and with some hint of comical romance. It is a story filled with pain and sex, but all in a good way. It will make you see BDSM in another light.

All characters are at least 18 years old. This book is strictly for adults.

Rating: 4 out of 5 Hearts

Review: If you go into this book thinking you are going to be reading a masterpiece of literature, I’m afraid that you will be very disappointed. However, if you are in the mood for a super quick read full of a young woman’s introduction into the BDSM lifestyle and hot sex, then you are in for a treat. In this first installment of Nina Rains’ “BDSM Story” series, we are introduced to Thomas Anderson, a Daddy Dom who, it seems, feel like he is required to take young women who are new to the lifestyle under his wing and teach them about BDSM. We are also introduced to psychiatric resident, Rebecca Baldwin, who goes to Anika’s Deviant Hall in search of information regarding BDSM from a psychological point of view. What she does not realize is that she is actually hard wired for submission until she meets Thomas Anderson, and he teaches her.

As I said, this is a very quick read (only about 80 pages) so there is a lot about the nuances of a power exchange relationship that must be overlooked or glossed over in the interest of saving space in the book. However, the storytelling and character development are still very strong so I’ll stand by my rating based upon the strength of the book. I will say that I am honestly not sure if I like or despise the character of Thomas Anderson. I’ll have to read more to see if I can develop a more clarified point of view on his character. If you want a deeper understanding of the BDSM lifestyle, you’ll need to look elsewhere. This book is most assuredly erotica and, as such, is recommended for adult readers.

Dom Daddy by Nina Rains #Review

He was a man – one that aroused my college girl fantasies. I saw him pleasure a person close to me in almost every spot of his mansion. I was jealous of her. But, I couldn’t do anything.

It had been four years since I last saw him. Back then, we were not close. It was not because I hated him or did not like him. It was different.

No man could fill my need to have him. So, I clung to someone who was, somehow, similar to him. I only ended being hurt – physically and mentally. I needed someone to satisfy my fantasies of him, so I chose to cling even more.

But, I never thought he would come and rescue me. He – Thomas Anderson – the very object of my obsession became my salvation. The fantasy I dreamed of for years was about to come true… with a prize that was more than I expected.

He was no longer someone else’s.

I was no longer a baby.

He molded me to be far more than that.

Publisher’s note: This full-length book will give you a peek at the training of a lady-dom. It has dark moments, but full of erotic BDSM scenes that will arouse your sexual fantasies, but will still leave you wanting for more.

All characters are at least 18 years old. This book is strictly for adults.

Rating: 4 out of 5 Hearts

Review: In this third outing of Nina Rains’ BDSM Story series, Thomas Anderson is once again in the position of introducing a young woman to the BDSM lifestyle. I somehow managed to miss the second story, so I’m not sure if it is explained what happened with Thomas and Rebecca, whom we met in Daddy’s Secret Mountain House, but Thomas does allude to having met “someone special”. However, unlike in the first installment, the young lady in question (who was almost Thomas’ step-daughter), Sassa isn’t the subservient type. While she goes in search of a Dominant after developing an obsession over Thomas after witnessing him with her mother, Sassa finds, instead, a man who is domineering rather than Dominant.

I honestly did not like Sassa at all. While I completely understand the appeal of a Dominant man and wanting to learn from him, the fact that she is very much set on replacing the “someone special” in Thomas’ life set my teeth on edge. This book is a little longer than the first one, but it is still not long enough to truly explore the intricacies of a BDSM relationship. Nor is it long enough to explore a polyamorous dynamic, which Thomas references when he says that he and his “someone special” have an arrangement. I really wanted to like Thomas, but even after a second helping, I’m not sure that I do. And having a hero that is someone you want to like but can’t is actually a good indicator that the author has done her job in fleshing out his character. I would very much like to read a book by this author that is a big longer so there can be a slower build with the story and the character development. Due to the nature of the book, it is recommended for adult readers only.
