#Giveaway: How I Became Lotus Raine, The Porn Star by Erika Ashby

I received this book from the author for an honest review.
How I Became Lotus Raine..the porn star is definitely a different type of book and not like you would think from the title. Lucy Rogers aka Lotus Raine has lived her life keeping to the background and doing everything so she doesn’t become like her mother. One man after another. She has a job she loves even though she wants more. Doing research for authors is great but she wants to be the one to do the interviews. When she finally gets her chance she gets to spend a week with Brent to interview him about his life as a porn star. Turns out Brent is the man she almost had a one night stand with.
There is so much more to Brent then being a porn star. He is a sweet caring artistic man, besides being hot. The attraction between Lucy and Brent starts the moment they see each other but over the course of the week, Lucy starts to come out of her shell and become a confident, mature women and not afraid to ask for what she wants. Along the way you stop thinking of Brent as just a porn star but you get to see the man he really is away from the cameras.
The book is told in a interview form by a collogue of Lucys. It does jump from the past to the present a good bit in the book but the story grabs you and holds you until the end. Lots of hot sex scenes. hot enough to make you wiggle around while reading.
I don’t want to label this book as erotica because it was so much more. So if you like hot steamy love scenes and 2 awesome main characters that grow and become the people they are supposed to be then you will love this book.

Ethan’s resolve…
Ethan knows about grief. Not only does he counsel people suffering from loss, he’s also lost a loved one. When he meets Ella, he makes it his mission to heal her broken heart. With time the boundary between patient and doctor blurs as Ethan finds himself falling in love. Yet he must suppress his feelings for fear of crossing a line that is based on trust.

Being without Ella while in Afghanistan was hard. Having to say goodbye again is even worse. Although now a ghost, Nate can still make Ella happy when he visits. An unbreakable bond…
When Ella becomes increasingly reckless and sets off on a dangerous journey into the rugged wilderness, it’s up to both Nate and Ethan to find her. One man represents her past and one her future. EXCERPT
I loved Nate with all my heart and the tragedy of losing him became somehow manageable when his ghost visited me. I never would have believed, if it hadn’t happened so many times. But it’s real. It’s possible for me to still be with Nate — even if nobody else believes me.
Lily things I’m nuts, which is why she was so in favor of my being counseled by Ethan. If my work hadn’t insisted, I would never have agreed to it. And if I had known that being near Ethan would lead to even more heart ache, well…
At least he doesn’t make me feel as if I’m going crazy for saying that I can see Nate. He’s been through something this side of horrible as well. Maybe that’s why he’s the only one who doesn’t look at me with pity. Yeah, I could fall for him.
But in doing so, I would lose Nate. I just know it. I lose a bit of him every day and it just tears me apart to betray his memory, even when he tells me to go on with my life. The only way to figure out this mess of my life is to spend time away from both of them. So that’s just what I’m going to do. Looking out into the distance, I can see the high peaks of these mountains that encompass the National Parks Recreation Area. They extend for miles from inland valleys, up and over the passes, to the ocean shore. One could spend hours and days, weeks and months, and never have the chance to explore every inch of them. It was a perfect escape.

There are always two stories.
Robin fell in love with Kent, the boy next door, a long time ago. Once their romance is rekindled, getting married and starting a family seems like the obvious next step. But fate throws a wrench in that plan. Now Robin is tempted to walk away from their relationship rather than settle for anything less than perfect with the man she loves.
Bailey is certainly not the boy next door, yet Shayna fell for his well-played act. But real love only exists in the movies. When a chance encounter binds them together, Shayna finds herself relying on Bailey more than she could ever have expected. And while their resources are slim and their circumstances are far from perfect, she and Bailey slowly discover that they do have something special to give….
When things don’t go exactly as planned, it’s hard not to PANIC.
MATURE CONTENT Strong Language/Sexual situations
She looks like she’s about to be sick. Her hands dig into her stomach and she leans forward. “Why are you saying this? I thought we weren’t going to rush into anything? Now what, you’re proposing? What the hell? Here we go, moving too fast all over again.” She steps free from the car and slams the door.
I step out and slam my own door with ten times the force. “Well, maybe fast is the only speed we know, maybe it’s the only speed that works for us.”
“You know what, Kent? We shouldn’t have done this. It was stupid to think this would work.” She reaches into her bag for her keys and walks down the sidewalk. “Goodbye.” Her car flashes as she unlocks the driver’s side door.
“Don’t you dare leave!” I shout at her. “I just said I want to marry you and now you’re walking away from me and saying goodbye.”
She walks back over calmly and stands right in front of me. Her head tilts back to look up at me. “Sorry, but I’m not wife material,” she says.
I’m furious. A clear thought couldn’t form if I tried. “Okay, good to know.” I grit my teeth, my mouth set in a fine line.
“You can’t be mad at me, Kent.” Her lip quivers.
“I can’t be mad? Is that what you’re telling me? ‘Cause I’ll tell you, Robin, I am way more than mad right now. You love me, you want to be with me, but you don’t want to marry me because ‘you’re not wife material.’ What does that even mean?” I holler. My fists are clenched, locked down at my sides.
“It means I’m defective,” she screams back at me. “I’m not the kind of girl you marry.”
Rating 4 fangs
Panic is the 2nd book in The Flaw series. It centers around two couples and their complicated relationships.
Robin and Kent were a couple in high school until reality intervened. Fast-forward and they are brought back together by a family wedding. The story follows them while they attempt the happy ever after story they should have had in the past.
Kent is an amazing character. He is thoughtful enough to put up with his sister in law’s bridezillas act (which gave me the giggles on occasion) and is a real gentleman throughout. Robin has lived her worst health nightmare and pulled through. She is a selfless character who thinks of Kent’s happiness above her own.
Bailey and Shayna are couple number two with their own story of love and struggle. Bailey and Shayna had to deal with a hard situation of giving a child up for adoption. I loved the perspective of reading the feelings and emotions of the parents who gave up a child rather than the often written about situation of the adoptive parents and their story.
This book is well written and easy to read. The fact that there are two different stories makes this book feel like you are getting a lot more out of it.
This book is good for those who like a nice plot that flows with some steamy romance. Highly recommended read. Look out for the next instalments.
The tag line for this book should be “Love doesn’t always come easy.”

Demon’s of Desire by Debra Dunbar

Demons of Desire
Half Breed Series
Book 1
Debra Dunbar
Genre: Fantasy Romance
Date of Publication: 7/21/2014
ISBN:
ASIN:
Number of pages: 315
Word Count: 100,000
Cover Artist: Phatpuppyart Studios
Book Description:
Amber’s succubus desires are driving her, as well as every man within a five mile radius, crazy – and, Irix, the sexy incubus sent to tutor her, isn’t helping one bit. Determined to find some balance in her life as well as get away from his tempting presence, she escapes to visit a college friend in New Orleans.
But the Big Easy is anything but peaceful. Two powerful witch covens are battling for control of the mighty river and the potent ley lines that run through the city. Amber discovers her half-elven heritage may just resolve their differences, but the covens have other, more lethal, ideas. She knows she can restore the elemental energy to balance, but it’s not easy to play peacemaker when her succubus side wants to drown the whole city in a tide of lust.
The tensions between the covens aren’t her only trouble. There’s nowhere Amber can run to escape the siren-call of her demon nature, and nowhere she can run to escape the seductive incubus who won’t seem to take “no” for an answer.
This book is book 1 in the Imp Half-Breed Series. The specific story line comes to a conclusion, but the relationship story ends a bit in limbo.
The story begins with a college girl, Amber, flying to New Orleans to visit an old roommate, Jordan. The reader is quickly allowed into Amber’s mind where we discover she is not a human. Amber is half elf and half demon. In order to stay strong she needs to have a lot of sex. Amber likes sex, but she only ever wants a man once. Learning about her demon side, she realizes that not only does she only want one night stands, but her partner will be unfulfilled the rest of his life after having sex with her. Amber was raised human and her learned humanity will not allow her to have random sex and ruin lives. She abstains and begins to starve her demon side.
Next we meet Irix, a full demon, sent to teach Amber. He wants her to embrace her demon side and “feed” by having sex. She refuses and he takes it into his hands to have sex with her. Curiously, she still wants him after.
Amber’s elf side is hurt over the environmental destruction in the bayou and she meets with some Wiccans to heal the land and trees. A confrontation occurs involving vampires, demons, witches, elves and angels.
I liked the way the paranormal creatures did not stand out due to the New Orleans setting. The relationship between Amber and Irix was never supposed to be, but their tie was strong. I wanted some dialogue between the two regarding their feelings. They both used their actions to show how they cared, but the romance was not as high as it could have been.
This book is for an adult audience due to sexual content.
I’m giving this book 4 fangs.

Derek Fressen experiences one tragedy after another. After learning to cope with being raised by a single mom, he and his sister, Tiffany, become closer than ever. When Tiffany escapes Seattle for college, Derek takes the opportunity to leave his past behind as well.
San Francisco State University is where Lexi and Derek find themselves junior year, thrown into the most uncomfortable situation possible, a group project that requires each to open up about their past. Their grade depends upon the ability to prove to the professor through a class presentation that they truly learned about one another.
Painful memories and terrifying tests of courage propel Lexi to learn how to take baby steps in the healing process and give her hope of one day feeling normal. Although he feels he’s pretty well healed from the horrible events of his past, Derek is lonely and longing for a life of more. EXCERPT
I can’t get her to look at me, I think she’s ashamed that she has no experience to go with. When I’m finally begging, she looks up and I can’t help it. She looks so lost, so sad. I know that she just needs the courage, but how will she ever find it if she doesn’t know what the reward is like? So I lean over, I place my hand on her cheek, and my lips on hers. She doesn’t freak out, so I use my tongue to entice her. I run it along her lower lip. I feel her breathing pick up and I’m nervous she’ll push me away, but when she doesn’t I try to coax her lips apart so I can really kiss her. When she opens them, her tongue meets mine and I have to keep repeating to myself, “Slow, slow, slow,” or my body might take over and try to push her past her limits. She’s not ready for more than this.I don’t let myself linger too long. I would love to kiss her all night, but she needs baby steps. I need to give her that or this won’t work. “I’m sorry. I couldn’t help myself, but I should’ve made sure it was okay first.” I say it knowing that she needed the surprise of it or it would’ve never happened.
Her response takes me by surprise, “Don’t. Be. Sorry.” She is breathing hard and can’t form a sentence. I love it. That means she loved it. When she brings her hand up to touch her lips, I know I can make this better for her. I stop her hand with mine and leaving the other on her cheek, I lean back in for a deeper kiss. She responds immediately. I make this one longer, but not much. This time when I pull back, we are both panting for air.
“Wow.” A simple statement from her confirming that she liked it.
Lexi’s on her junior year of college and she is just barely getting by. The only friend and support she has is from her best friend and roommate Paige. Without Paige, Lexi wouldn’t have the strength or will to make it through the day. She tries to remain invisible in her classes as she fights overcoming the trauma from her past. Her therapist helps her through her problems but it’s not enough. In her Communications class she gets an unexpected project and is forced to work with someone. Worse yet, she has to open up about her past to them. This is a huge step for Lexi one she doesn’t know if she can handle.
Derek is focused on his classes just trying to get good grades and graduate. He moved away from home to escape his haunting past and start anew. Lexi and Derek are partnered together for this assignment and it’s going to be tough for both of them. Learning more about each other is just the first step. Talking about their past may be more healing then they thought. Maybe being paired together isn’t such a bad thing.A sweet beautiful story filled with love and hope. This story made my heart soar and spirit dance. Derek was the sweetest guy ever. Even though he had a tragic past of his own he never faltered in his care for Lexi. He showed her kindness and understanding the likes of which are rare to find. Derek is every woman’s dream come true. Lexi is struggling to get by and deal with her past. She slowly becomes stronger throughout the novel. Trauma is hard to cope with but there is always hope and Derek shows her that. The story was a uplifting sweet read.
I recommend this to any contemporary romance fan looking for a beautiful hope-filled story. This is sure to make you smile and melt your heart.
I rate this 4 fangs.http://www.amazon.com/review/RH2V59HJX2J1B/ref=cm_cr_rdp_perm?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B00L4ULUEK
