Sparks Fly In New Romantic Suspense Novel: August Fire
Poteau, OK – Many years of small town living have given author Kasey Riley a good feel on the dynamics of the people and situations of life in rural America. Her novels all revolve around the mythical town of Riverview, CO and many of the characters make appearances in each independent, freestanding novel. Overall, the feeling of comradery and mutual respect of each character for the others shines in her novels. Riverview is a town with heart.
Stephanie and Doyle meet on the highway, tempers flare but so does chemistry. This meeting foretells their relationship, many miscues and eventually heat between them as they realize Riverview is too small of a town for them not to interact.
Slowly forming an uneasy friendship, they volunteer to remove livestock from the path of a raging wildland fire. During the adventure, they encounter the arsonist who realizes they are the only ones who could recognize him. He vows to silence them.
After their night of passion spent in the neck of a horse trailer in the middle of a fire, Doyle and Stephanie wonder if they made a mistake. Each of them suffers trust issues from previous relationships but admit this particular relationship is like no other in their experience. Added to this is the fact that they must elude the arsonist determined to silence them. Can they survive as a couple and live long enough to marry?
I really enjoyed this read. It is a tale of a love story between Stephanie and Doyle. Doyle is ex military, a man who says “ma’am” and grins when something strikes his fancy. Stephanie decided early in life that she had been disappointed by men and can live on her own just fine. Perhaps she didn’t realize what she was missing till Doyle stumbled into her life…well…more like she stumbled into his! It does seem as if one mishap follows another in this story for sure! But through it all, they are there for each other, first as friends and then in the end…as a couple in love and working it all out. I would recommend this story. It is an easy read and I didn’t put it down till I had to 🙂 5 fangs.
