He only nodded, deep in thought. “I can help you,” he declared.
I was not expecting that. Honestly, I was growing skeptical. What if he offered to hire me? Yes, I was more than attracted to him, but I was no longer hiring myself out. That chapter of my life was over—the end. “How, exactly?”
Again with the half-smile—Dear Lord—he replied, “Marry me.”
“Excuse me? Look, this is the twenty-first century. A woman doesn’t get married because some asshole threatens her. Come on! That’s just absurd.”
Well, that did it. Now he was furious. He stood up so fast I thought he was going to knock over the sofa and me with it. Then he began to pace while he growled, “I’m fully aware of the century, Aimee. The point is, that ‘asshole’ can wreak havoc on your life like you’ve never seen. You cannot ignore him and hope he’ll go away. You need protection, and I can provide it. It’s really that simple,” he apprised.
Now I was angry. “First off, don’t talk down to me. I’m not a child. I’m obviously aware he can ruin my life. That was why I had agreed to stay with him in the first place. I have plenty of money to hire my own protection. I damned sure don’t need your help, Mr. Strand.”
He grabbed my upper arms. “Yes, Ms. Taylor, you do need me.”
“You know what…Piss off!” I broke free of his grasp and marched over to the elevator to push the call button. The door opened immediately.
I heard Nik bellow, “Aimee. Get your ass back in here, now!”
As the doors slid closed, I flipped him off. Just who did that man think he was? I would figure this out myself. I was sick and tired of these powerful, commanding men telling me what to do with my life. They could all go to hell.

I received this book from the author and from Paranormal Romance and Authors That Rock
Ava had what she calls a curse, she sees visions of death with skin to skin contact. Because of this she has no one except her best friend Miriam. She is unsocial and feels like an outcast. One day while with Miriam they meet two men Thomas and Karson. She accidentally touches Thomas and has a horrible vision of his death by fire. This get Karson’s attention.
Karson is a demon hunter, his family had been killed by demons 10 years before and he is out for revenge. He is worried that Ava is jumping in to take over his job to kill the demons.
There are sparks between Ava and Karson from their first meeting. They keep their distant not really trusting the other. Which I really enjoyed, you feel the attraction and they skirt around the issue until they get to know each other better. Ii wasn’t sure I liked Ava to much in the beginning she was naive and acted somewhat shy. to some extent she stands up for herself, but over the course of the book she becomes a strong person and starts seeing her visions as a gift and not a curse.
A definite read for any lovers of paranormal/ romance and suspense.

This is a novella of the first book in the series, Where I Need to Be, but from Brandons’ point of view. In it we get to see the things that are going on behind the scenes that Spencer doesn’t know about in the first book until a bit later. Namely that he’s being stalked by a crazy ex that just won’t take no for an answer and will do anything to get back into his life and his bed.
This kind of book can really go either way for me, sometimes they are so close to the original that it becomes a boring read. This book, while slightly repetitive in places did a decent job of really trying to show the events from a new perspective. I enjoyed knowing what was going on in Brandons’ head, as well as the rare find of a guy actually being nervous and slightly afraid to talk to a woman he likes. Most books show the guy as an alpha macho type who could never be nervous or vulnerable in any way, it was a nice change to see something different.
Overall I liked this little novella and I think its cool that the author plans to keep writing these in between the longer books and continue to give us the guys’ point of view. Again, the only drawback for me is that she is still extremely detailed in her narrative, but I hope that relaxes a bit as she writes more books.
I give it 4 out of 5 fangs.
