Dive into the secret, ancient, powerful world of two New Orleans families, the Deschanels and the Sullivans…
Beyond Darkness: Shattered, a prequel novella in The House of Crimson & Clover Series, and a novella intended to accompany the other prequel story, The Storm and the Darkness.
Anasofiya Deschanel fled to Maine to escape her mistakes. She learned quickly, and violently, you cannot run from what’s inside you.
Following a series of unfortunate events, Ana finds herself drowning in the consequences of actions which left her heart cruelly divided between the St. Andrews brothers. Jon’s embrace of darkness soon turns to dangerous cruelty, while Finn’s kind heart offers a promise of love she does not feel she deserves. Between all three of them lies a secret with the potential to change everything.
When the truth comes crashing down, Ana is forced to face the same demons she once ran from. As she learns more about who she is, and the situation she’s created, these realizations drive her to a desperate decision that will change everyone’s lives, forever.

This story picks up after The Storm and the Darkness and before The Illusions of Eventide. It goes more into the stories of Ana, Finn ,and Jon. It explains why Ana and Finn return to New Orleans and leave Jon and the island behind.I never did like Jon and now I like him even less. It also explains why when Ana first came to the island she was treated so badly by the islanders. What happened when her mother was there and what her mother was really like is also told. Ms. Cradit explains a lot in a short novella and doesn’t lose any of the love or angst, she fits it all in perfectly. Each character comes to life and the way their personalities are makes you either love or hate them, there is no way to be indifferent to any of them. I love this series and I will read them as fast as Ms. Cradit writes them, I’m a fan for life. 5 awe struck fangs.
