Counting on You by J.C. Reed

I have everything I want. Success. Wealth. Women…and make that plenty of those. As a filthy-rich CEO, I would say I’m pretty much close to perfection. Except for that one weakness: I’m cocky as hell, and an irresistible magnet for women.

So when one tiny mistake lands me in hot waters with the investors, I have one hell of a choice to make:
Restore my reputation…
Or risk losing my company.

I’m a man of my word and failure is not an option. Not now. Not ever. I fully intend to uphold my responsibilities.

Sharing an apartment should be easy, right? And it’s only for six weeks.
That’s what I thought before I found out that my new roommate is female.
And wow.
Vicky Sullivan is unlike any woman I’ve ever met.
She’s hot as sin, and crazy.
Definitely not my kind of crazy, but too hot to pass up.
There’s something about her that makes me rage with want.
I don’t like her, but obviously my dick does. And what he wants, he gets.

Six weeks…
Living together shouldn’t be too hard…
Until my best friend challenges me to a bet…
I make it my mission to make her mine.

There’s only one problem.
I have to break…Every. Single. Rule.
And did I mention she’s completely off-limits?

It’s too late to say no.

COUNTING ON YOU is a standalone rom-com with no cliffhanger.

After being court ordered to go to rehab, Vicky. is absolutely miserable. Rehab is not the place for her, she doesn’t belong here. How can love be an addiction? And she loves her boyfriend, he’s the reason why she there. Then she discovers here partner/roommate for the next six weeks is a sex addict and a man! A really gorgeous, buff, great ass man. A man who is fighting his urges to make her his #1. After all, the main rule is no sleeping with other patients. Their attraction to one another is getting heated and one they are talking themselves out of. Breaking that rule, just may get them both kicked out.
Counting On You was an ok read. I felt like I had already read this after watching that Sandra Bullock movie. Not my favorite kind of topic, but I did like the authors style not really the story though.such a hard headed Vicky and an arrogant Kade. The negative emotions that come with any kind of addiction was hard for me read. I wanted to smack some sense into Vicky, yet punch Kade for his games. The author did write smoothly and kept me pulled in to the end. I would really like to read something different by the author and see where it goes. I gave the story three stars.

Alpha Grayson by Midika Crane

“You will accept me,” He whispers, his voice but a breathless murmur in the cool breeze.

My jaw clenches, as he turns, catching my gaze within his own. Enraptured in glinting silver malice, I can’t look away.

“You will accept us.” Another hoarse growl words of my own cannot begin to answer reverberates through me.

I watch, quivering, as he braces his tense arms on the table before us. His next words, edged by lust nearly have me on my knees.

“Can’t you accept the fact that I’m about to rip your clothes off and take you against that wall over there?”

Lexia has been held captive for most of her life. Until one day, when a young, attractive Alpha appears with an offer she cannot refuse.

Why he chose her, to come live with him in his lavish estate, she didn’t know.

Until, she begins to open doors she shouldn’t.

Until she begins to question why he leaves the house every night, and does not return till morning.

Until she discovers exactly what bond they share, when touching.

(Third Book in the Alpha series. Not necessary to read the first two…Alpha Landon, Alpha Kaden….)

*Mature themes and language within*

As soon as I started this ARC copy of Alpha Grayson I knew there was at least another story before. Do yourself a favor and do as I did and read that one first. Alpha Grayson takes off from the cliff hanging conclusion of Alpha Kaden. It continues the twists and turns from the earlier story, but I found this story had more humor than the first. In the first story Lexia was very much portrayed as a badass, but this story doesn’t take the same approach. I’m not sure if all the co-existing plots in these stories are a detractor or what hook you in to keep reading. The only deterrent I was sure about was the dramatic changing of scenes and how the story jumps around. I found myself having to re-read sections to be sure that I followed what was happening. I’m definitely reading the next story after this cliffhanger ending. I rate this story 4.5 hearts.

Putting the Readers Back in Charge of Publishing

Imagine a YA publishing process without gatekeepers.  One where editors and agents read the manuscripts that readers love, not vice versa.  One where anyone with a knack for writing, a passion to succeed, and a little flair for self-promotion, has a fair shot at being published.

All too frequently, this isn’t the case.  Books often get rejected for reasons beyond authors’ control.  One editor turned down an ultimately successful book by saying, “The girl doesn’t, it seems to me, have a special perception or feeling which would lift that book above the ‘curiosity’ level.”  The book in question?  The Diary of Anne Frank.  Furthermore, according to the Cooperative Children’s Book Center, only about 10% of all YA books accepted for publication feature “multi-cultural content.”  Clearly, there are some blind spots that need addressing in the publishing industry.

It’s with this vision in mind that Publishizer is launching its YA book proposal contest called Plot Without a Cause.  Publishizer is a startup seeking to fill a hole in the publishing industry through crowdfunding.  It works like this:

You write the book proposal.  You know the book proposal I’m talking about.  The one you’ve been daydreaming about for years.  The one that just popped into your head last week and you haven’t stopped thinking about since.  The one for the manuscript that’s been dearly loved by you but maybe not so much yet by the publishing industry.  That one.  Then you register (for free!) on Publishizer’s website and post your proposal in the Plot Without a Cause section (again—for free!).

Now this is when you’ll have to start hustling.  Crowdfunding runs on pre-orders, so you had better start promoting that proposal.  Reach out over social media, post on your blog, email your old roommates—whatever it takes to start building buzz.  If you get the most preorders by the time the contest ends, you’ll win $1000 dollars.  And if you don’t have the highest number of preorders, don’t worry—you’ll still be queried to major publishers who fit your proposal.

Previous Publishizer contest participants have gotten interest and landed deals with a variety of traditional publishing companies, including Harvard Square Books, She Writes Press, and Weiser.  Publishizer takes a small commission on pre-orders when you choose a publisher at the end.

Every year, thousands of books are rejected by the publishing world for reasons that have nothing to do with the quality of the book—they’re too mainstream or not mainstream enough, too similar to books already being published or too different from books already being published.  Or the literary agent just doesn’t stand to make much money on the deal so they pass on a perfectly good book!  Imagine how many brilliant YA manuscripts go unpublished every year thanks to frustrating rejections.  Imagine how many hugely talented authors quietly give up on their dreams, just because the gate to a traditional publishing path isn’t open to them.

With their new YA book proposal contest, Plot Without a Cause, Publishizer is seeking to level the playing field.  Publishing decisions shouldn’t be based solely on a literary agent’s judgement or how many friends you have in the industry. They should be based on quality of writing and how many readers the book attracts.

Great books get overlooked all the time, and this is an opportunity to show acquiring editors that yours is worth paying attention to. Not to mention the readership and funds you could gain in the process. Crowdfunding (or crowd-publishing, in this case) is growing in popularity and brings a personal touch back to book sales—for readers and publishers. Are you in?

Sci-fi Romance that’ll take your breath away
Leave your world behind–visit Dragon Planet today!

Crash landing on an alien planet was definitely not on the itinerary.

But while touring the Pyramids of Egypt my friends and I are sucked through a tear in reality and hurtled through space.
We’re surrounded by exploding volcanoes, killer predators, and wild alien barbarians who want to take us hostage and use us like cattle.

My only hope is a smoking-hot alpha dragon with brilliant eyes and giant claws who claims me as his treasured one. He’s powerful, possessive, and willing to fight anyone who messes with his mate.

He’s a shifter named Targon, and he’s a Dragon Lord.

My knees wobble and my head spins whenever his fiery eyes are upon me. His touch lights a fire in my heart like I’ve never felt before.

But there’s danger at every turn, and the other dragons want to repopulate their planet… using my body.

This Full-Length Romance Novel contains exotic alien locales, nonstop action, and steamy scenes between a seductively hot dragon shifter and a BBW from Earth.

There are No Cliffhangers and you’re guaranteed a Happily Ever After!

Book One of The Dragons of Theros Series.

This had an interesting take on shifters that hooked me from start to finish. The author throws you right into the storyline with no real chance to connect with the female or male lead. Honestly the story could have been developed more because it did feel rushed and forced a bit with Rin having a Stockholm syndrome of sorts with her savior. The characters were more focused on their libidos then the more important aspects of the book in my opinion. I did enjoy the read and that the creativity was awesome. Based on content this book is for mature audiences and as an independent reviewer for Romance Authors That Rock give this book 3.5 Hearts.

Mystic Valley Alpha Cowboy by Arabella Steedly

My Daddy lied! He was a billionaire!

After finishing art school, Daddy said he was broke and arranged to send me to Montana to marry a rancher who was much older than I.

I convinced myself I’d be all right and went along with Daddy’s plan. Until I saw the rough, tough cowboy come galloping up to the gates of Mystic Ranch to meet me.

Craning my neck to look up at him, I stood frozen to the spot. I blushed to the deepest red when his glacier blue eyes looked me up and down.

His hand was warm and big, as he clutched mine hoisting me up to straddle his mighty steed.

I trembled when I was told to circle my arms around his waist. I could feel the rugged muscles under his denim shirt causing a shock to run down my spine. I bounced a little with every gallop as we rode away as one.

I shook my head in silent disbelieve. He wasn’t old or disgusting…in fact he was quite the opposite. Why did a man like Clyde need a mail order bride? What had Daddy done to me?

****Steamy, Adult Romance****

Mystic Valley Alpha Cowboy

When Big City girl Jade meets small town rancher Clyde, it is not exactly love at first. Especially since it’s supposed to be an arranged marriage that she doesn’t want to be in. I felt like the author couldn’t decide if this story was supposed to be a contemporary romance or written back in the 80’s. There were a lot of scenes or thought processes, especially with Jade, that I felt were very dated and not how a woman today would have said or responded. I also felt that the dynamic between Jade and her father was an odd one and it left a lot of unanswered questions. Finally, I was confused with the “alpha” part of the title as, Clyde was definitely a manly man, but had very few characteristics of a true alpha as interpreted in most other stories today. I rate this book 3 hearts.
