Dark Heart of the Sun by S.K. Ryder #Review

dark-heart-of-the-sun-final_505x825

Synopsis:

She is determined to live life on her own terms. Destiny has other plans.

Rookie journalist Cassidy Chandler wakes to an ugly bruise on her neck, a hole in her memory, and a fiancé who seems to know more about what happened than he’s telling. It’s enough to make Cassidy call off the engagement and move out, even if that means trading a posh South Florida mansion for a dilapidated beach house. Unfortunately, she also trades one devious man for another questionable character in her unexpected new roommate: the darkly enigmatic and exasperatingly French Dominic Marchant.

For Dominic Marchant secrecy is a matter of survival. As a newborn vampire with dangerous enemies, he’s sure the headstrong young woman invading his lair with an unknown vampire’s mark on her throat is about to get him killed. But the charming Cassidy resists his every effort to make her leave and even embroils him in her own tumultuous life. Before he knows it, she has stolen his heart and helps him rediscover his lost humanity. Now he’s fighting to protect her not only from the ancient vampires hunting him, but also from his own deadly desire for her.

But her secretive ex isn’t done with her yet, and neither is the dark prophecy Cassidy and Dominic’s unlikely relationship has set in motion. Together they are swept up in a battle where nothing is as it seems, love and deception are the weapons of choice, and the only way to survive is to risk everything—for each other.

 review

Dark Heart of the Sun is the first book in the Dark Destinies series by S.K. Ryder. The story revolves around Cassidy and how one day life is all good and the next day it’s flipped upside down. Though, I do think Cassidy did one heck of a job copping and going with the flow. I didn’t like our hunky French Vampire, Dominic, at first. He came across as a pompous prick, but I quickly warmed up to him, a lot. As for Cassidy’s ex, Jackson, my biggest issue was due to other reviews. Thank goodness I didn’t read any before I started this book. Okay, so you find out pretty quickly in the story what Jackson’s deal is, but I didn’t have a clue, so those reviews that give away Jackson’s secret are spoilers. The synopsis doesn’t even give his secret away. Anyways, rant done and moving on. The story switches POV between a few characters, editing was good, and the story flows at a steady pace of twists and turns. It’s a book appropriate for YA and up. Overall, well done. I liked the book and give it (4) Hearts. I received a copy from Romance Authors That Rock, in exchange for an honest review.

Throne of Grace by Cecily Wolf #Review

Newport, Rhode Island in the last decades of the nineteenth century was a stunningly beautiful and glamorous playground for the rich during the summer months, and a perfect setting for a romance between a rich young man from New York City and a local girl who works for his family. The two couldn’t possibly expect to have anything in common, as he is expected to follow his father in a financial career and she is merely a maid with a mother who takes care of local children while their parents work. Arthur Davenport, spoiled and bored, unsure of his place in his family and in the eyes of God, truly meets his match in Josie Warren, who is often just a bit hard on herself for not being the perfect Christian in thought as well as deed. The two meet on the famous Cliff Walk, and neither of them can imagine where or how their instant attraction will take them as he struggles to makes his parents understand that his calling is the same as hers, to help those less fortunate. He has no money of his own, and if they disinherit him out of disapproval, how can he help Josie, who has spent her life working hard to help support herself and her mother? More importantly, how can he convince her that he would gladly give up his life of luxury just to be with her?

review

I’m an independent reviewer for Romance Authors That Rock. I was given this copy for my honest review. I give 5 stars. It was a very sweet story.
Josett Warren is a woman of God. It is the summer of 1893.  She lives with her mother in Newport, Rhode Island. The girls around her have gone “boy crazy” she doesn’t see what the big deal is. But one day on her walk to work to the Davenport residence she meets a man that makes her question that thought. The problem is he is above her in society.
Arthur Davenport is twenty years old and his family is pushing him to marry and for him to work with his father. During his travels in the past year he has come to the realization that he has not lived in a Godly way. He has seen the heartache on his travels around the world and has decided to open a shelter.
This is a wonderful story about how God works in mysterious ways to get His work done. How He puts the right person in your path at just the right time.
This is the first book I have read by this author and I’m looking forward to reading the next. I would recommend this book to anyone that can see in to their own heart and see beyond what is in front of them. HEA.

Never to Love by Aimie Grey

Title: Never to Love
Author: Aimie Grey
Genre: Contemporary/Erotic Romance
Blurb:
Bad boy meets bad girl…
Thomas Ramsay has three rules:
One night
No expectations
No bullshit
Julianne Griffith has three rules:
One night
No feelings
No beds
When a man who doesn’t believe in love collides with a woman who has no use for it, the resulting explosion is much more than they are prepared to handle.
Meeting your match doesn’t always lead to the kind of happy ending you expected, especially for those who have vowed never to love.
Aimie Grey didn’t read a single book until she was in her early thirties. One fateful day, her friend decided to put an end to the madness and shoved a steamy romance novel under Aimie’s nose. After being forced to read one of “those” scenes, Aimie went home and bought the book, and the next one, and the one after that.
In the four years since, Aimie has read close to seven hundred books. Somewhere along the way, she became frustrated with reading repetitive stories revolving around the experienced man seducing the still virginal woman. Aimie decided to take matters into her own hands and wrote her debut full-length novel Never to Keep.
In addition to her day job as Queen of the Geeks (IT boss-lady), and her evening gig as a writer, Aimie’s primary role in life is wife and mother. Aimie lives in the Midwest with her husband and two teenage daughters.

I needed to remember who I was. Julianne Fucking Griffith didn’t take shit from anyone.
“This was supposed to be a one-night stand. Then it turned into three. Then the limit was waived. Then emotions got involved—” Thomas opened his mouth to offer a rebuttal, but before he could, I raised my hand. “—I’m not talking about love or any other bullshit. You were really angry with me, and that made me feel angry or hurt or something. Whatever it was, I didn’t like it.”
Thomas’s weak nod shouldn’t have made me feel like an asshole. It shouldn’t have made me feel anything at all. “I’ll text you about meeting up sometime so you can see Colton.”
“Okay,” I replied. “See you later?”
Before I could pull the door open, I felt Thomas’s body heat invading my personal space from behind. “Julianne…” he whispered.
Strong hands wrapped around my waist, guiding me as I turned to face him. My entire body quivered as I stood in place, anxious because I knew what was coming, but I had lost the ability to speak, and I couldn’t pull away. As his lips moved closer to mine, the desire to stop his advance vanished.
Julianne Fucking Griffith be damned.

Book Description:

On 26 May 1897, Bram Stoker brought us the story of Dracula; an undead creature who terrorised the living by drinking their blood. He based his creature on the legends of Ireland and Eastern Europe, bringing it to life with all the pomp of Victorian literature. What if his concept was correct, but the execution was not? What if there was not one creature, but a band of twenty-four? Crusader knights who committed such a terrible act that the Pope of Rome and the Rabbis of Jerusalem joined together in petitioning God to bring a terrible curse upon them.Sentenced to eternal life as punishment for their crimes, yet hounded by both the clerical and the secular as they struggle to live them. The Jews called them Ga’ashekelah: the Raveners. To the Catholic Church, they are the Accursed Ones. Feasting on the bodies of the living to maintain their power.

What starts as a simple trip on the Eurostar to the buried trenches of World War One in Northern France is going to take Imperial War Museum expert Dr. Alexandra Horne on a journey she could never have conceived. From the bustling streets of Paris to the azure waters of Collioure and the very Vatican itself, Lexa will discover the Raveners and those who have sworn to hunt them down.

Excerpt:

She found herself going from map to map. This was sometime around the second phase of the battle, before Beaumont-Hamel was finally taken. Thiepval as well. “This must be from the middle of September 1916. Maybe October. It’s obvious from this that he was trying to bring men around to penetrate the Allied lines from the areas they couldn’t budge.” She found herself gnawing on a thumbnail. “Dear God! With a counteroffensive like this, he might have shifted them. It’s a bold plan. Whether or not he could have managed it, with the Germans bleeding to death at Verdun, would have been the question. But damn! This might have changed the battle. Maybe even the war.”

“I wondered about that.” Another voice behind her.

Lexa turned and coloured, realising that in her wonder she had completely ignored the stranger in the room. “Oh! I am Sorry! Dr. Lexa Horne of the Imperial War Museum.” She held her hand out.

“Dr. Jack Bennett. Pleased to meet you.” Bennett was a large, fit man in his mid fifties with close-cropped, iron grey hair and a face lined from years digging in the sun. He had a bit of the George Clooney about him and Lexa was sure that all the archeology undergrads wanted him as a prof. He was a trifle swoon worthy. “Call me Jack. It was great that you could come out here at such short notice. We will be wrapping all this up in the next week or two.”

“The pleasure is entirely all mine,” Lexa told him in all earnestness. “This is simply unbelievable. This is like walking into heaven for me.” Ok. A small lie. Dead men and unexploded ordinance aside, it was heaven.

Bennett gestured back with his head and stepped aside. “I doubt the major there would agree.”

Lexa gasped as she saw the body at the desk. He was perfectly mummified, just as Darby had told her. He was hunched over, as if sleeping, and his golden hair gleamed in the light. His skin was the colour and texture of tanned leather, and his lips under a large moustache had pulled back to show his teeth. His head lay on on crossed arms, sunken eyes closed in eternal repose. The fingers were slightly curled; a large ring on one hand and a wedding ring on another. His light blue uniform hung on what was left of his frame, but was in decent condition through the shoulders. In fact, there were no real decomposition of the fabric. His side arm rested on the chair, the belt having slid down with time. The silver bullion on his uniform had a dull tarnish and the aiguillettes on his shoulder seemed suspended as if by magic. Beside him, his uniform cap was on the desk.

“Oh dear God!” Lexa exclaimed. “You’ve just left him there? How could you do that?”

“The question is how to get him out of the trapdoor without disturbing him. We have another specialist coming in from Germany. He is one of theirs, after all,” Bennett shrugged. “And you know the Germans. They are trying to find the right person. I would move him, but he is perfectly preserved. Outside of this environment, I expect he would not last long. It seems a shame to compromise his remains unnecessarily.”

The body rooted Lexa to the spot. She felt a terrible weight on her chest. “I’ve never seen a dead body before.”

Darby walked over and put a hand on her shoulder. “It’s ok. He can’t hurt you.”

“It also feels a bit indecent to be looking at him.” But she found she couldn’t tear her eyes away.

“We treat all remains with the greatest respect,” Bennett said quietly. “As you know, there is a lot we can learn from him. He is so perfectly preserved. When we have learned from him, we can return him to his family, if they still exist. He can be reburied with honour. He was lost and we found him. There is nothing indecent about that.”

“I just feel so strange with him there. I feel like a thief in his home.”

“The first time you see remains is always the hardest,” Darby told her. “Just remember that he is gone. What made him a person is gone. He is in a better place.”

Lexa nodded and walked closer to the desk. Her mouth was rather dry but now curiosity was getting the better of her. They were right. She was just being a ninny. Yes. This man was dead and he couldn’t hurt her. “Yes. I suppose you are right.”

Bennett quirked up a little smile. “Just don’t touch him.”

It was the moustache. The moustache was so familiar. Even in death, it had that upwards curl which was so familiar. A vain bushiness. When she had seen it in pictures, it always made her smile. “I think I know who this is!” Lexa exclaimed and reached into her bag for her iPad.

Fascinating!!!  I love everything about this book.  The style of writing is excellent, perfect for the subject matter.  The premise is fascinating to me, the reasoning this author comes up with, and how the Templars, vampires, Judaism and Catholicism is all woven together.  It’s a refreshingly inventive take on how the legend of vampires came to be, and the story of a girl who’s destiny is wrapped up in the ages old fight between good and evil.  But, how do you tell the good from the evil?

As an independent reviewer for Romance Authors that Rock, I gave this one a full five stars!  It didn’t make my cry, but it did hurt a few times, and I absolutely could not put it down!  Action from the start, fast moving but easy to follow, with great characters and witty dialogue.  Fantastic reading for any lover of vampire legends, Templar legends, and those of us who study all the different(?) religions.

Fighting to Dream by Nicole Flockton

Title: Fighting to Dream
Series: The Elite: Book Two
Author: Nicole Flockton
Genre: Adult, Sports Romance
Published: September 28, 2016
At the 2016 Rio Games, Olympic runner Drake Roberts is chasing a dream, a dream that isn’t his. For as long as he can remember it has been his father’s dream for him to be an Olympic gold medalist. Now an injury could rip away everything he’s worked so hard for.

Tamara York has her dream job. She’s part of the team that keeps the Olympic track and field athletes in peak condition. With plenty of growth potential, no one is going to deviate her from her goals, until she sees Drake hiding his injury. Now she has to help Drake to a full recovery while resisting his charms.

Can time spent together help them realize that love as well as dreams are worth fighting for?

Fighting to Dream Excerpt © Nicole Flockton 2016

Drake Roberts bounced down into a squat, grimacing at the sharp needle of pain in his knee. He grit his teeth and rose up again, hoping against hope his coach hadn’t seen his face. He’d told Len his knee was fine. That he was fit to compete in the Olympics.
Now he was here at Rio.
These games were going to be his last. He hoped to win a medal. He didn’t care what color. Anyone would do. If he won, his dad would stop lamenting how he’d missed out on Olympic glory and his son had achieved what he hadn’t been able to do.
Some would say Drake was living his father’s dream. He couldn’t deny it, he was. When he’d won silver at the world championships last year for the 1,500m race, he thought that might be enough for his dad, after missing out on a medal in the 2012 Olympics. Unfortunately, his win had only fueled his father to push him to work toward trying for another Olympics. After all, his father said, he got silver and if he worked harder he could get gold.
So now, here he was, in the training room at Rio, nursing an injury he’d hidden from his father. He’d told his coach it was okay but he’d aggravated it when he’d taken a run around the Olympic track the day after he’d arrived. He should’ve given his knee a chance to recover from being cooped up in a plane for over eight hours.
While the buzz of being at the Olympics was something you couldn’t adequately describe to anyone, unless they lived it themselves, and he wanted it all over. Once it was done he could announce his retirement from competitive running and his life wouldn’t compose of getting up at the crack ass of dawn to practice and travelling all over the States from meet to meet. He might be able to have a normal life. Although what was normal? If he didn’t win gold his father would no doubt push him to try again for the 2020 Olympics. He would be thirty then. He really didn’t want to do another four years of training.
Drake closed his eyes as he squatted down again. This time the pain was sharper. He blew a breath out as he rose up again. How many more squats was he going to have to do?
“You’re knee bothering you, Drake?”
He swiveled around at the sound of the voice over his left shoulder, the movement doing nothing to help his knee.
Behind him stood Tamara York, the team’s assistant physical trainer, easy on the eye with her honey blond hair caught in a high pony-tail and crystal blue eyes, curves in all the right places. Not so easy on the rehab exercises she had him doing when he first injured his knee. She was also the last person he wanted to know how sore his knee actually was. He knew the other guys on the track squad talked about seeing if she’d go on a date with one of them, none had tried though, they’d all been warned by TJ the head physical trainer that she was off limits. And seeing as most of the guys on the squad like their balls, they obeyed TJ.
Like Joey with is sure fire, How you doing line to get the girls, Drake flashed Tamara his signature melt-your-panties smile and winked. “Nope all good here. But if you feel the need to give me a rub down, I won’t say no.”
The crossing of her arms over her chest and raised eyebrow told him if he’d been standing in a bar, he’d be wearing her cocktail or whatever she was drinking all over his face.
While he knew it was a sleazy line action, and he could have TJ’s wrath come down on him for flirting, he didn’t care. He didn’t want Tamara anywhere near his injury. He didn’t want her telling him his Olympic run was over before it even started.
“Does that really work for you, Roberts? Or am just the lucky one you want to practice your cheesy lines on?”
“It can be whatever you want it to be.” Yep, he was certifiable to keep on being super sleazy with Tamara. He hoped she would walk away and be none the wiser to what his body was going through.
“Right, well I’ve been watching you and I’ve seen you cringe through every one of those squats. If you want to compete in these Games, I suggest you come see me in the treatment room after you’ve finished your practice.” She walked away, back straight, her pony-tail swishing from side to side, giving him no chance to object to her edict about their meeting in the treatment room.
Great, how could his coach and TJ miss the pain he was in but Tamara hadn’t? Unless she was watching him because she was interested in him.
Drake chuckled to himself and pushed the thought away. There was no way Tamara was even remotely interested in him. He was just the unlucky one she’d decided to observe that day.
Forcing his attention back to warming up his body, he slightly modified his actions when completing the rest of the exercises in the hope no one else noticed his discomfort.

Police are People Too

“You experience the emotions, distractions, frustrations and successes of the characters in every chapter of In the Line of Duty. I found her heartfelt details to be spot on with a line-of-duty death. Being able to put such a tragic situation into words, is difficult in itself, but she does it with compassion, knowledge and respect for those in uniform who know what it is like to lose a brother or sister in blue.”
— Carl J. Harper, Training Officer, ERT (SWAT)

Cover

Sadly, as humans, we tend to judge that which we don’t understand. And let’s be honest, most of us haven’t stood in the shoes of a police officer. We’ve never faced an armed subject at one o’clock in the morning or had to make life-and-death decisions on a daily basis. We’ve never had to focus in a traumatic situation and make a significant judgment call. We’ve never had to face families and friends who have been left behind and tell them that their loved one won’t be coming home.

In general, people either point fingers at the police or put them up on pedestals. No one is perfect, however, and sometimes that pedestal cracks. Instead of doing either of these things, though, I think it’s most important that we respect our law enforcement officers and accept that they are human, just like the rest of us. They have families and friends. They have feelings. They have hopes and dreams.

In the Line of Duty was inspired by my love of law enforcement, for those who serve and who have served, but I also wanted to write a book that showed the human side of policing. I wanted to paint a vivid picture that shows that police are people and illustrate how the loss of a brother in blue affects them—not only on a professional level but more importantly, on a personal one.

The characters in my book must carry on after a great loss to find the person who killed their fellow officer. Their grief tears apart relationships, changes people’s viewpoints, and has them acknowledging their own mortality, just as it would anyone.
So the next time you see a police officer, remind yourself that police are people, too, and deserve the same compassion and kindness as you or me.

–Carolyn Arnold
Author of In the Line of Duty (Detective Madison Knight series)

Excerpt from In the Line of Duty, Chapter 3:

Troy gripped the sink in the men’s washroom at the Stiles police station with both hands and stared at himself in the mirror. He’d lost men close to him before. The last one was two years ago, and the officer had been killed in a car accident while off duty. He’d left behind two kids and a wife. But Barry…he was different. Life always equaled death, of course. It was a simple equation to accept until it touched close to home. And that’s what Barry’s death was for him–personal.

Losing Barry made it clear just how dangerous this job could be and how fragile life was. One minute here, the next gone. Barry had just been pumping gas, a routine thing, something people did all the time without any thought to their safety. Those on the outside would say that’s the risk he took being in law enforcement. Yes, there was the chance any one of them wouldn’t return home from a shift, but it wasn’t something Troy consciously thought about before heading to work.

In fact, when serving in a SWAT capacity, he’d say it was one of the safest positions within the Stiles PD. SWAT had the toys, and when they showed up to manage a situation, it was often brought under control rather quickly. Even the majority of criminals didn’t want to tango with an AR-15 and armored vehicles. Besides, dwelling on one’s mortality wasn’t healthy. But when something like this happened to one of their own, it spurred on such self-reflection. It could have easily been him in the morgue, or one of his team members. Or Madison…

His insides quivered with rage as his heartbeat slowed with his grief. He squeezed his eyes shut.

“I’ve got Dad’s car tonight,” Barry says. “We’ll take it out on the back roads and see what she’s really capable of.”

“Your dad’s a cop, Barry,” Troy reminds him.

“So? What he doesn’t know won’t hurt him.” Barry takes a few steps down the hall of their high school but stops and spins when Troy doesn’t follow. “Come on, man. Don’t make me take Lyman.”

Troy came back from his thoughts and opened his eyes to find himself staring at his reflection.

That night had been one of the best ever. Barry had sent the car airborne by racing over the railway tracks on the outskirts of the city. They’d even conned some seniors into getting beer for them and drank it by the tracks later that night.

Barry had made Troy feel alive…

Pain knotted in his chest, the regrets over skipping drinks with Barry last week paired with losing a part of his childhood somehow.

Troy pinched the bridge of his nose as the memories continued to rush over him.

“I just got my acceptance letter.” Barry holds the envelope in his hand. “This college has the hottest chicks… Not that it would matter to you.”

“What does that mean?”

“It’s Lauren and Troy sitting in a tree…” Barry sings.

“Seriously? You’re like a girl sometimes, you know that? A big, emotional girl.”

“Hey!” Barry punches him playfully in the arm.

Madison punched him in the arm sometimes, too…

God, what would he have done if Madison were the one who’d been killed?

He devoted his life to seeking justice. But would she get any for him?

When news of Weir’s murder reaches the precinct, it leaves Detective Madison Knight and every cop in the Stiles PD itching for revenge. It cuts Madison’s boyfriend, colleague, and Weir’s childhood friend, Troy Matthews, deepest of all, driving him away from everyone he loves just when they need one another the most.

With evidence pointing to a gang-related drive-by, Madison and her team investigate the town’s seedy underbelly in search of justice for their fallen brother. But the deeper they dig, the more convoluted the case becomes. Now they need to figure out if this was a random shooting as part of a gang initiation, a straight-up hate crime, or a targeted kill. But with members of the Stiles PD under attack, they have to do it fast…before more officers pay with their lives.

review

This story jumps right in without any pretense or background, that said it did provide for an most interesting read.  I really would have liked more back story on the characters relationship ingrained in the story to make it feel deeper. Overall it felt really like all the characters had together despite numerous claims was sex. The boundaries that were exceeded and the level of BDSM that was brought in I felt added great spice to keep the reader’s attention. Based on content this book is for 18+ audiences and I am giving this book 3.5 Hearts. I’m an independent reviewer for Romance Authors That Rock.

Fade to Blue by D.P. Denman

Title: Fade to Blue

Series: Blue Series #3

Author: DP Denman

Genre: M/M Romance

Release Date: October 27, 2016

Brady Halverson is a self-made man with his life under control. He has the money. He has the man. He has it all. When an international scandal pits brother against brother, he realizes how quickly he could lose it.

While Brady is learning the truth behind his brother’s lies, his boyfriend Blue is learning another lesson about loyalty and the fragile bonds of friendship. A careless moment divides Blue’s circle of friends, threatening to tear it apart.

Putting things back together forces them to test the bonds of friendship and family. For one of them, things will never be the same.

Brady walked barefoot down the hall of his condo, tan carpet cushioning his steps, his mind on the golf course. He looked forward to Wednesdays at the country club, working on his game and chatting with fellow golfers. They celebrated their morning on the green with cognac at the clubhouse, bragging about better days and better scores.

He strode past the office he’d learned to ignore, the career that used to define him downgraded to a lucrative hobby. The trill of the phone on his desk lured him to the open door. It didn’t make that sound often anymore. He stepped into the sunlit room, a muted version of summer pouring through the full-length tinted windows. He paused within reach of the receiver, tempted to let the call go to voice mail. It wasn’t an emergency. It couldn’t be.

There were no emergencies in investing. Only a slow-rising panic that took days to peak and gave people ulcers in the process. That phone produced headaches. His cell dealt with calamity, and it hadn’t made a sound.

A glance at the caller ID challenged his certainty, scattering the casual curiosity and denting his mood.

Why were the Royal Canadian Mounted Police phoning his office?

A spike of fear drilled into his gut at the thought that his boyfriend, Blue, had tripped over something and done a face plant into trouble. It wouldn’t be the first time, though Blue’s brand of trouble didn’t warrant the RCMP’s attention. At worst, it attracted the Vancouver police and a couple of paramedics.

He picked up on the third ring, pushing aside the explanation. If they were calling about Blue, they wouldn’t be on his landline.

“This is Sergeant George with IMET,” a man said in his ear. “I’m trying to reach Brady Halverson.”

“This is Brady. You’re with what?”

“The Integrated Market Enforcement Team. Do you have a moment to answer some questions?”

He wasn’t familiar with that division, but the name was enough to launch dread down a zip line through his intestines.

“Sure.” He stood behind his desk, cringing at the thought of something unpleasant crashing into his life.

“You work as a hedge fund manager. Is that correct?”

“Not anymore. I’m a part-time investment advisor.”

“And you have a brother named Terry Bernard Halverson?”

That question didn’t make any sense. The topics weren’t related. “Yes. What’s this about?”

“Would you mind coming down to our office to discuss a few things?”

He didn’t like the way the sergeant stepped around his question. Neither did his blood pressure.

“Can you tell me what this is about?” he repeated, suspicion inching toward dread and puddling under his arms.

“It regards your brother.”

“I figured that.” His heart pounded through scenes of kidnappings by professionals who specialized in compound interest and compound fractures. “Is he all right?”

“To my knowledge, he’s fine. I’d rather ask the remaining questions in person if you don’t mind. It’s not urgent, but it is important.”

He breathed out the tension in his stomach. “Yeah, I guess. What’s the address?”

Sergeant George gave it.

“Does it need to be today?”

“No. Anytime this week will be fine.”

They agreed to meet the next morning, and he hung up, questions crowding his head. The biggest was what Market Enforcement in British Columbia wanted with a concert violinist from Toronto.

Award winning author DP Denman writes character-driven contemporary romance about gay men. Her stories are real and intense, but resolve in endings that make people want to read the book all over again. She lives among the moss and trees of the Pacific Northwest with a rambunctious pair of fur babies.

In her spare time, she is a dedicated LGBTQIA rights activist with a special focus on the thousands of rejected and abandoned kids who end up on the street every year. To support the cause, 25% of the royalties from every book go to LGBT charities.
