excerpt

Sarah stood outside the house and watched while Brock unraveled the magic woven around it. The demon fidgeted and paced, and on more than one occasion, she worried he would run from her. She hoped, once inside, he would be able to find peace. Something in her gut told her his jitters were not all due to the opening of old wounds. She realized she actually made him nervous. When she’d caught him admiring her assets, she’d been anything but angry. His roving eyes had sent moisture between her thighs and a longing that nearly had her shoving him to the floor to sate her desire. Hot, inviting, he made her mouth water. She wondered if he tasted anything like the spicy cinnamon scent she inhaled every time she got near him and decided she needed to find out. Would it be in poor taste to seduce him when he was at his weakest? For some reason, she didn’t care, and that was really out of character for her.

Sarah?”

She looked up and met his dark, brown eyes, noting a twinkle of mischief in them.

Find something you like?” he chuckled.

Shit. She’d been caught staring at his ass. Well, it wasn’t her fault he filled out a pair of jeans like nobody’s business. Not to mention he was standing two steps up from her which put the muscular perfection right at eye level. She curled her lips upward. “As a matter of fact, yes. Yes, I did.” There, let him chew on that! She hoped he’d take it as a hint of her interest.

He tipped back his head in laughter. “Well, I guess I deserve that after I gawked at you.”

He pushed the door open, his features immediately schooled. Her heart ached for him and longed to see the sexy smile again. Her new goal was to get him through this and help him move on. She wanted to get to know the real Brock. The one who wasn’t in pain. “I’ll go first just to make sure it’s safe.” He slipped past the threshold and disappeared. Sarah remained on the first step, waiting for him to give her the all clear. Minutes later, he stuck his head out, his face ashen. “You can come in.”

She made her way up the remaining steps and through the doorway, not sure what she would find inside and half expecting her senses to be assaulted. She took in a deep breath and found the air to be crisp and clean. She must have had a puzzled look on her face.

The spell kept everything out so there’s no mildew or mold,” he stated matter of fact.

She glanced around the spacious kitchen and felt as if she’d stepped back in time. The white porcelain refrigerator and gas range with its side storage compartment were state of the art for the period when the house had been previously occupied. Everything glistened as if freshly cleaned, waiting for the museum patrons to walk through the time capsule. She noticed Brock no longer stood next to her so she moved across the linoleum floor to the beige carpeted living room. She found him standing in the center, staring down at the floor.

Brock?” She walked up and stood next to him. He didn’t respond and almost seemed to be mesmerized except that his hands balled into fists then released, only to repeat the process. Her heart fractured. Clearly, this was where he had found his mate. She reached out to touch him but hesitated unsure how he would respond. “Brock, maybe this wasn’t a good idea. I think we should leave.”

He lifted his head and glanced around the room. “No. I need to face my ghosts. I guess I wasn’t expecting it to be this difficult.” He ran his fingers through his short, blond hair. “Hell, I’m not really sure what I was expecting.”

It was heartbreaking to see him so vulnerable. This time, she didn’t stop herself from placing a hand on his arm.

Is this where…?” She couldn’t finish the question without her voice giving away her emotions.

5 fangs

Brock is still mourning the death of his mate and son after 50 years. Now he wants to try and move on. When he returns to his families home to take the spell off the house he meets Sarah another demon. Sarah is starting to wonder if she will ever find her mate. When she meets Brock she feels an attraction, is it just sexual or could he be her mate. Then she meets Elias and the attraction is instant. Sarah knew mates came about in  one of two ways, instant attraction or slow attraction. To go from no possible mate to the possibility of two in a couple days Sarah didn’t know if to be freaked out or excited. How’s a girl to choose?

This was a quick read, not a lot of depth to the story but more of an erotic paranormal romance. Enjoyed the characters, how everyone came together in a time of need. There is chemistry between al the characters. You have Brock and Sarah and their hot sex scenes. Then you have Sarah, Brock and Elias together in a fan yourself scene. Nothing like  good old demon sex. Throw in a few bad guys for some suspense and you have an great afternoon quickie.

Lovers of paranormal and erotica will enjoy the story, but once you hit the steamy scenes the paranormal part kind of fades from your mind

About the Author:

As a child, Valerie would often get into trouble for peeking at her mother’s favorite TV show, Dark Shadows. She can still hear her mother saying “It will give you nightmares.” She was right of course, but that did not stop Valerie from watching. As an adult, her love of the fanged creatures never waned. She would watch any vampire movie she could find.

Being a true romantic, Valerie was thrilled when she discovered the genre of paranormal romance. Her first read was one of Lara Adrian’s, Midnight Breed Series and from there she was hooked.

Today, Valerie has decided to take her darker, sensual side and put it to paper. When she is not busy creating a world full of steamy, hot men and strong, seductive women, she juggles her time between a full-time job, hubby and her two German shepherd dogs, in Northern IL.

Review:

4 Fangs

**I received this book from the author and Paranormal Romance & Authors That Rock in exchange for an honest review.**

A surprisingly, although not completely original, well written book about people with the ability to control water, fire, electricity, etc. that separates them from normal people, who either tolerate them, want to use or experiment on them…think X-Men.

Sable is sixteen and gifted with the ability to conjure fire with her mind. After accidentally setting her bedroom on fire, her parents have her committed to a mental institution. It is here that she learns that anyone with her type of gift, or any gift that differentiates them from normal people is not tolerated. Held in the worst part of the institution where she and her new friends, Ophelia and Fang ,are starved, abused, and tortured, her only thought is how they can escape. Lucky for her, they are eventually broken out of the institution by other gifted or “diseased” as they are described by the government, and taken aboard a ship where they meet Shaw, the leader of their small band. They are trained by Brandon, his sister Chloe, and Kelly, the other diseased on board to use their gifts and to protect themselves and each other.

Although free from the institute, they are not necessarily safe. The government knows they are there and have certain expectations. After one of their own gets captured, they will learn of a new group that is hunting / collecting diseased. To make matters worse, the media has been inciting the general population into fearing the diseased. Just when it looked like they may actually be able to control their powers and do some good helping others like themselves, they find themselves having to prepare for a war.

Again, although the book did remind me a lot of X-Men, especially after having met venom, I enjoyed the story and flew fairly quickly through it and will definitely be reading the next book. I actually liked a lot of the characters, even if some of their decisions or actions were a bit annoying. I had to remind myself that these were teenagers and sound decisions would not always be made, especially where romance is concerned. I definitely had to chuckle when I got to the part about why Chloe was so annoyed with Sable and Brandon, cause that sure explained why she drove me absolutely crazy and why no one called her out on her behavior. I still think they need to.

If you like movies or books similar to X-Men, i.e paranormal, and the YA genre…in my opinion, this is a good one. The pacing was pretty good, and though the twists may not have been completely original or overly suspenseful, it was entertaining.

REVIEW:
I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review.
We start off meeting Acelyn, a girl devoted to saving the soul of her sister. She has made a deal with the devil to Kill his son to free her sister from purgatory. She is on the hunt for Cain, but in her path lies a sexy man who she cannot seem to resist. She fights her urges because ultimately she knows that falling for him could be her undoing.
I am not going to give away any more of the plot but this book was well written. I do have to say it was a slow read for me as I am used to a lot more suspense and action in a paranormal novel. That being said, I did enjoy how this author took a new approach on weaving in preternatural creatures. This book was not lacking for romance and I was taken by surprise at the decisions that Acelyn is faced with and how she approaches solving her problems. I am interested to see where the author takes us with Acelyn and her supporting staff. I give this book 4 fangs.

REVIEW:
I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review. I read this book description and thought to myself- what the hell? I am all over a book where the men are built like gods, likely to have some hot sexual encounters  and some love mixed in. We are first introduced to the characters in a way that makes you almost want to hate Ares- God of War. He is abrupt, crass and a sexual pig in a sense. Then you meet Maggie aka Alena who pulls at your heart strings for many different reasons. This book takes you on a journey through the lives of the ancient gods, celtic families, and throws in some interesting paranormal twists.
I am going to start discussing some of my dislikes of this book. There were times during this book that I really wanted to fast forward through because I did not know much about the “history” of the gods to know that they were somewhat disgusting in their sexual relationships. I did not expect to read so much of the incestuous history between brothers, sisters, fathers, grandfathers, daughters and such. I did not expect to read scenes of love making between relatives. I felt at times that the author threw in paranormal aspects to be able to code this book into the paranormal genre and I felt some of it was a bit hard to believe.
Now having said all that, I am able to over look a lot of the incest for the good of this book. The author was able to create great relationships that I loved to hate within Ares’ island and outside of it. I enjoyed watching the relationship progress between Alena and Ares and how their relationship affected the rest of the gods. I think this author put a great spin on the history of the gods to create an addictive story of love, hate, and remorse. All in all I do not feel that the book description above really tells you anything about what this book has to offer. I am interested to see where this story goes and am ready to jump into book 2.  I give it 4.5 stars, docking a half a star because of the incest in this book that made me nauseated at times. Review: Cursed by Lizzy Ford

cursed

The Red Man is coming …

Five years after her sister disappeared, seventeen-year-old Adrienne finds the strength to return to her father’s home in New Orleans. But soon after she arrives, the mark of a curse appears on her, leaving her worried. Will she be the next victim of a four-hundred-year old family curse … the next to be claimed by a serial killer roaming the back alleys of the city?

The day before his senior year begins, Jayden is given a skeleton key passed down through his family for generations — a gruesome reminder of how his ancestors betrayed their own people and sold them into slavery. He doesn’t believe in the curse the key allegedly bears and puts it away with the intention of forgetting about its message. Until he meets Adrienne, a girl he’s compelled to for more reasons than her beauty.

He’s not the only one who notices her. A man in a skeleton mask and a voodoo gang member are also drawn to Adrienne. One is determined to protect her. The other intends to mislead her. Haunted by the mythical Red Man, all are connected to the ancient curse.

Can they overcome their misgivings about one another and prevent the dark prophecy looming over them? Or will they be lured away from each other by evil’s siren song?

REVIEW (By Bonnie ADMIN)

I was gifted this book by the author for an honest review.

I feel I must pre-empt this review with the disclosure that I am a Lizzy Ford Addict and have loved every book I have read thus far.

Cursed had a bit of a slow start for me because of the voodoo references and dialect, however by the third chapter, I could not put it down. This is a great book for YA audiences and is set to characters that overlap young adult (high school) and new adult (college) age bracket but also ties in the adults in their lives. Jayden is the hot, African football star- Addy the token blonde white girl. What this book does bring in is racial conflict, voodoo history, family curses, serial killers, black magic and love. This book was really not lacking for anything except more words because it was too short and ended leaving me breathless. I really, really, really liked Rene and want to see more of him in the next book. I am hoping for a little bit of a love triangle going on and hope that Addy’s dad can overcome his issues as well. 5 fangs easily and Lizzy needs to hurry up with the next installment.
